Moochi pulled out a few surprises at their first Fashion Weekend show, with a live performance by singer Tali, men on the catwalk for fun, and their new "kiss kiss" xx logo…
Moochi started out being about clothes you could "mooch about in." Now, it has grown up into a fully-fledged label with dresses spanning every conceivable occasion with retail stores in major shopping sites and devoted fans as well as an impressive online presence.
Designer Kellie Taylor releases in-season into their own stores rather than wholesaling to other stockists around the country so they’ve never used the Fashion Week platform that sells to trade in September for the following winter. Instead, this is their first showing at Fashion Weekend, with an in-season range cleverly pitched at the customer base so loyal to them.
Moochi pulled out a few surprises at their show, with a live performance by singer Tali promoting her new album Of Things To Come, a flutter of men in moochi – just for fun in this show, not for general sale – and their new "kiss kiss" xx logo. The show started with menswear, then casual streetwear, moving on to eveningwear, with sexy little black dresses juxtaposed against angelic broderie anglaise frocks.
Hair for the first half was blonde wigs with candy lips and shoes; for the second half, centre-parted with plaits and smokey eyes with nude lips. Just stunning and one of my favourite hair looks of the week.
Tickets priced at $25 for the public Fashion Weekend show ‘Blue Sky Feeling’ were incredibly good value for a front row seat and goody bag including Orly nailpolish, Dermalogica product, hair products from Schwarzkopf, QVS brushes, and Hershey’s kisses – a pun on the new kisses logo.
The Taylor sisters like to bring the clothes forward to meet their customers; Kellie Taylor (Moochi) and Vicki Taylor (Taylor Boutique) showed collections this week either available either now in the case of moochi, or in the case of Taylor Boutique, in December.
