Suits and pretty dresses were on display for the Racedays at Ellerslie Show as part of New Zealand Fashion Weekend 2011.

Dresses modeled were from Principals, exclusive to Farmers and Alannah Hill, and Natalie Chan’s Parnell Road boutique (pictured.)

The show, open to the public at Fashion Week’s Fashion Weekend, represented a break from the norm. Where Ellerslie traditionally launch their fashion event programme on a RaceDay, this year they did something a little different and brought the racecourse to the runway.

Whilst it was a pretty show of commercial garments, it would have been nice to have seen some of the past winning outfits displayed on models, particularly some of the vintage and more original outfits. We learned that a couple of the models were in fact past winner, but wearing sponsored garemnts at this show. It also would have been good to see clutches modeled with outfits.

A nude dress and shoes for those of us who are adverse to bright colour – love the detailing on the hemline.

Suiting by Frank Casey and Nicholas Jermyn Shirtmakers showed that lighter grey suits and pastel green and pink shirts can be worn by men – especially on a Ellerslie summer’s day.

Very fitting that hair was created by Pony Xpress – giddy up.
