Haunting earthquake music set the scene for the Christchurch Earthquake Appeal Show at NZ Fashion Week 2011, which featured a range of local designers including Kathryn Leah Payne, Sakaguchi, Caroline Moore, Mister and Eclipse.
Christchurch-based fashion stylist Angela Stone also took to the runway and unveiled her new collection for Spring Summer 2012 which will initially be available for purchase at Curate, the brand new fashion gallery open now in the heart of the Britomart precinct.
This show held attention and had plenty of variety. It can be a hard task showcasing designers with diametrically different designs but the Christchurch Earthquake Appeal Show mastered it well.

Payne said her collection "combines darkness and death with ethereal light and beauty." Pictured below. Photo below by Michael Ng.
After losing her Cathedral Square studio in the February quakes and much of her equipment Payne says she couldn’t work for months but has put together a small collection of feminine designs for her Autumn/Winter12 collection entitled “Of Darkness and Light.”

Angela Stone’s range looked perfect for those who like inner city glam, with lots of white accessorised with gold.
MisteR’s collection showed talent and received hearty response from the audience.
Well done on a show that reminds us to remember and enjoy the good – such as fashion and creativity – in the midst of serious tragedy.
