Stolen Girlfriends Club showed ‘Dead End’, their Autumn/Winter 2013 collection in a concrete carpark in Grey Lynn last night to 560 seated and 500 standing guests.

The venue, under top industry fabric suppliers Wall Fabrics warehouse, looked amazing with strip fluoro lighting down the pillars. Before the show, we went to drinks upstairs at Wall Fabrics and learned that Stolen Girlfriend’s Club designer Dan Gosling is pretty skilled at ping pong. However, he and Marc Moore should stick to their day jobs – the collection was fantastic.

Seated downstairs in the carpark, the intercom asked guests – "even those of you in the front row" – to turn on and hold up our mobile phones to illuminate the first models off the blocks as they walked down the runway.

Dead End is a collection of three major print stories: an olive green camo cobra print, a cartoon animal on white – slightly like kids pjs – and fighting snakes printed on dresses and bags.

Elsewhere, shiny PVC teamed with grey winter wool cut with asymetric hemlines and visible zip detailing that reminded me of labels like Zambesi.

They quoted their inspiration as "a doomsday moment – the end of the world as we know it, resulting in weird yet wonderful amalgamations of life and eerie combinations of armour that perhaps don’t quite make sense."

Stolen really know how to bring the party and the atmosphere was electric. Their branding is so strong, and even their MINI cars were parked outside embellished with the green cobra print.
