New Gen shows are always a pick n’ mix box of chocolates, and like Forrest Gump says, you never know what you’re gonna get.

At the NZ Fashion Week 2011 New Generation Show, we got the zany, the colourful, and the wearable. Here are the photos.

First up was Two Wonders with an eveningwear line with an opulent bent and Eastern jewels. Very theatrical and would be fabulous as costume design in film.

Deryn Schmidt brought retro styling to a collection of 1940s outfits, entitled Joy Of Life.

EGOIST is designed by a young couple and fits the niche for guys who like going to clubs and want to wear something a bit different. They already have a flagship store in Ponsonby Road and I saw the fashion photographer Norrie Montgomery wearing it.

Katie-Maree Cole was inspired by Little House on the Prairie with her AW12 collection, quite.contrary. See the article and all photos on Thread here.

Emma Manhart showed a vibrantly-coloured collection.
