Trelise – Prairie to Boardroom

From the over large stetsons perched on the heads of the models, and the windswept hair styling, these girls are fresh off the range – albeit a prairie of Trelise’s making…

It was always going to be an American country music-influenced show, judging from the huge Cooper banner made from denim jeans and the soundtrack from Jace Everett – his dark but fun ‘I wanna do bad things to you’.

From the over large stetsons perched on the heads of the models, and the windswept hair styling, these girls are fresh off the range – albeit a prairie of Trelise’s making.

With washed out denim, mixed with crocheted shorts, paper bag pants and over dyed denim, COOPER by Trelise Cooper was most definitely prairie chic.

The styling had the vampire and ‘fang banger’ nails (red, white and long) and hair all messed up sexy.

With fishtail skirts, aran knitwear and denim jackets – we think all the bases were covered.

Below: COOPER does prairie chic.

A lovely tattoo print dress.

Editor’s fave: this bird-print silk tunic and jacket.

The beautiful COOPER flag that caused an hour delay to put up, then took a dive. Close-up, it was all patchworked, like a giant American quilt – really stunning.

Bon Iver’s rendition of Bonnie Raitt’s ‘I can’t make you love me’ started the next part of the show as we moved onto Trelise Cooper.

The tropical birds, flowers and butterflies of the pop-up card invitation made a stunning backdrop – which sadly had its Big Reveal a bit early, when the denim COOPER banner fell prematurely. It was gorgeous nevertheless and from our seats we could see the attention to detail extended to even having genuine lichen stuck to the aviary cage.

First down was a mint green and cream checked wool suit. We liked the styling, with the Dutch cotton covered wedge heels that came down with the outfits.

Foxgloves and other pretty florals mixed with tartans for their inspiration of "Adventure in the Scottish highlands among heather-strewn fields wearing checks and tweeds of eccentric ladies of the manor."

The floral part of the show was a collage of print, texture and soft sorbet colours in shades of lilac, rose and violet.

The elegant part of the show dark shades of charcoal, black and midnight blue.

A soft pale blue cashmere coat caught our eye next, as did some lovely blue slouch pants.

Her silk prints are always good, and this collection is no exception with soft Missoni-esque patterns and animal prints on black.

The new collection from Trelise is her affordable women’s suits line called Boardroom which she kicked off with a whole crowd of girls coming down the runway with slick tailored jackets, heavy black rimmed glasses, and high heels.

Chanel-inspired black and white wool checked suits followed. There were definitely women in the audience around us who were ‘suitably’ excited about them! It was a triple treat for Trelise lovers.
