There’s no nicer way to start your fashion week day, than with a cup of hot coffee and croissants. Ever the hospitable hosts, Showroom 22 put on a slap-up breakfast for hundreds of guests at 9 o’clock on Wednesday 5th September in the second of their Blue Sky shows. It’s now such a successful enterprise that I hope that it, and their in-season show series The Marr Factory, both make an appearance again next season.

twenty-seven names joined Ingrid Starnes at New Zealand Fashion Week 2012 as part of ghd Presents Blue Sky held at Australis House in Britomart. Michael Beel led the ghd hair stylist team to create the hair looks.

twenty-seven names designers Anjali Stewart and Rachel Easting returned to their sixth-form reading list to draw inspiration for their AW13 collection ‘i thought you’d never ask.’ They said their starting point came from the first line of Jeffrey Eugenides’ The Marriage Plot; "To start with, look at all the books." Thus, the designers looked at the great female novelists of the nineteenth century including Jane Austen, George Eliot and the Brontë sisters in their range which features striking prints and polkadots accompanying 19th-century detailing.

twenty-seven names is quite the multi-media design duo; in addition to the garments, the show, and the hand-drawn illustrations they do each season, created a short film to launch their collection, inspired by the portraiture of artists such as Gillian Wearing, Cindy Sherman and Rineke Dijkstra.

They state that "’i thought you’d never ask’ plays with the idea that the ‘marriage plot’ still remains a central theme in our favourite stories, something the poet laureate of Easting and Stewart’s hearts — Beyonce — might have something to say about."
