Twenty-seven names, the first AW14 season show of New Zealand Fashion Week, began with a tailored blazer and trouser; the clasic preppy look the Wellington label is so well known for.

Entitled "I’m Lost", the Autumn Winter collection is based on the work of Belgian surrealist artist Rene Magritte, drawing again on the art background of Rachel Easting (the winter 2012 collection was inspired by Manet.) The twenty-seven names designers Rachel Easting and Anjali Stewart used Magritte’s famed symbols: the bowler hat, green apple, and beating heart, to create the range’s signature prints.

Key M.A.C Makeup Artist Amber D said her inspiration was “Fresh faced 90210 girls are looking lush and gorgeous.” Amber created the face using key products: Strobe Liquid, Prep & Prime Moisture Infusion, Clear Brow Set, Mineralize Rich Lipstick in Dreaminess and Mineralize Rich Lipstick in Luxe Naturale.

Going forward this year with some more structured pieces was a nice move for the label, seen particularly in a navy jacquard with tiny gold hearts which made for some fantastic dresses and two piece sets.

Things got surrealist with two little legs on a bowler hat in a cartoonish print on collarless dresses.

A soft-shouldered camel coat was another highlight.

A shot of colour and shine appeared in a metallic lurex red print which was contrasted with black sleeves in a bomber in a sports-luxe look.

"Je suis perdu" may be French for I’m lost but twenty-seven names are anything but; they’ve really found their look and we love it.
