Models were instructed to present the judges with two walks. The first walk being ‘High Fashion’ and the second, ‘Bridal Couture’.
There was certainly no shortage of limbs, cheekbones and impressive pouts that day. However what was explained to the models by Director of Monarch Model Management, Amanda Bransgrove, was that personality and energy were still very vital in what the judges were looking for.
Also on the judging panel, Owner of Goodness Boutique, Chris Hales shared similar sentiments in what made certain models stand out to her “It’s an individual confidence, you can just see it”.
So what’s the judging process like from a model’s perspective?
“It’s nerve wracking but you have to forget about it, because it is your only chance to show why you are there in the first place”, said one hopeful, AJ Cole, pictured below.
“I’m usually quite excited. When I’m walking down the runway, I’m not really thinking about everyone else, I just try to keep composed” said Chloe Graham, pictured below.
And as to all the models who auditioned, we’ll look forward to seeing those who got through, on the catwalk. Thread will be attending and covering Wellington Fashion Week on from 3rd to 7th April 2013, so watch this space.

Wellington Model, Isabel Luseane didn’t audition but said she "came to support her friends."
