Zambesi by Amber D at MAC

Amber D has a long-standing relationship with Zambesi. She actually used to work for Zambesi before she was a make-up artist so she knows the desires of their heart well when creating their face for runway shows…

Thread interviewed M.A.C key artist Amber D backstage at New Zealand Fashion Week on Tuesday 4th September 2012 on her inspiration for the beautiful face for the Zambesi AW13 collection…

Amber D has a long-standing relationship with Zambesi. She actually used to work for Zambesi before she was a make-up artist so their background goes back "thirteen or fourteen years" she says.

Bearing that in mind, it comes as no surprise Amber knows what makes Zambesi tick and can easily bring the desires of their heart to fruition.

"They don’t have to be a ‘character’" Amber says of the Zambesi woman she creates a face for. "Instead, we look at what kind of shapes and lines the clothes have. This year, there’s a lot of structure; it’s quite architectural."

"We’re doing all powder and a strong lip; keeping products to a minimum. I’m using Moisture Infusion Primer which makes skin lush and plump. The eye and cheekbone are the same tone, which is quite interesting."

Amber D is using Violetta lipstick. "It’s a power lip!"
