See what’s new in bargain beauty. Here’s some new makeup and skincare that’s come across my desk this week, for some cheap thrills – so you can get more bang for your beauty buck…

In honour of the first bargain buy, Rimmel, being British – plus my love of all things Cool and Britannia – I’ve shot them this week on my vintage Queens 50th Jubilee scarf. Long Live the Queen.

Rimmel London Scandaleyes

Rimmel of course was fronted by supermodel Kate Moss who epitomises London Cool so well and now this campaign is fronted by rock royalty Georgia May Jagger. Rimmel does cheap and cheerful cosmetics really well; the eyeliners retail for just $11.50 each. I’ve been using this taupe eyepencil as an eyebrow pencil as it’s perfect for blonde haircolours; strictly speaking, it’s an eyeliner. The black one is also a waterproof kohl pencil to line eyes.

Nad’s Facial Wand Eyebrow Shaper

Nad’s have a range of hair removal products out such as facial wax strips ($13.49), body wax strips ($16.99) and Brazilian and Bikini kit ($21.99) but it’s the Facial Wand Eyebrow Shaper ($18.99) that really caught my eye – no pun intended. The Australian brand is now global and available from supermarkets and pharmacies nationwide.

Primal Earth Refresh Shave Gel

The elegant moustache on this guard shows he knows a good shave when he sees one. Primal Earth has new look packaging for its men’s skincare products Refresh Shave Gel, SPF15 Moisturiser and Calming Face Wash. My guy’s been using the face wash daily in the shower and says it’s great. They’re available for $8.99 each and the moisturiser for $13.99 and the range are vegetarian, paraben-free and are plant-based. For more info see www.primalearth.org

Maybelline New York City Rescue Total Clean

If anyone could clean up the Houses of Parliament, it’s Maybelline with its new New York City Rescue Total Clean makeup remover. It will take off stubborn mascara and longwear lipsticks with this remover fluid on a cotton pad.

ORLY Mani Mini

This policeman is pointing out a beauty bargain; you’ve got to hand it to Orly for these traffic-stopping Mani Mini lacquer trio colours. In conjunction with CITTA Design’s new AW13 interior design collection based on British style, Orly produced these mini shades: ‘Luxe’ gold for The Sloane, a pretty pink ‘Je t’aime’ for The English Rose, and bright red ‘Haute Red’ for The Vintage. Schwarzkopf Heidi Klum range

No-one needs volume more than this guy! Look at that height. Heidi Klum also knows great hair, and she’s given her Seal (sorry!) of approval to be the face and name of Schwarzkopf’s new Heidi’s Extra Care range, including this Instant Volume Powder ($7.29). The hair styling range includes Volume Mousse ($6.49), and shampoo and conditioner at $6.12 each. Available now at supermarkets, department stores and pharmacies.

Covergirl and Olay pressed powder foundation

Ellen Degeneres is the covergirl for Covergirl and Olay’s latest foundation powder. The cosmetics and skincare giants have joined forces again to produce this pressed powder with Olay serum, which is a little beauty for the price at only $21.99. The powder foundation comes in four shades of fair/light, light, light/medium and medium. It is available now at The Warehouse, Kmart and pharmacies.
