I had the new anti-aging IP5 Treatment Facial from Murad at Caci today – and it’s true that a treatment facial is tingly rather than relaxing – and now my skin feels totally amazing.

A Treatment Facial differs from a regular, usually relaxing and hydrating facial, in that it’s highly active and you can really feel it working; I don’t have overly sensitive skin, but I could definitely feel those enzymes at work exfoliating my dead skin cells.

I met Fran Caliari-Pearce at the High Street Auckland Caci spa and learned about the new facial from Murad; IP5 Professional Facial, which lasts 60 minutes ($170). It’s an intense, anti-ageing facial that resurfaces skin to brighten the complexion and hydrate.

The IP5 Illuminating Peel resurfaces skin with five high performance exfoliators, while cells are stimulated with Immuno-Skin ComplexT. The facial includes an instant eye-lift rich in Hyaluronic microspheres that super-hydrate skin and plump deep wrinkles which is apparently proven to increase skin firmness by up to 75% in just 15 minutes!

First up was the exfoliating mask Intensive Peel, with hot towels steaming the face, followed by deep hydration and eye-lifting treatments and a final hydrating mask called the Cooling Recovery Mask – but actually quite tingly, too- with the most gorgeous peppermint fragrance that had me going home to brew a cup of Peppermint Tea afterwards.
