What’s new and newsworthy coming across my way, in this latest edition of my column ‘On my Desk’ for early December 2012…

Here are a few fun interactive promotions around Christmas giving that the public can enter for free on brands’ micro sites.

Firstly, stationery brand kikki.K are embracing gift giving with Art of Gift Giving, where you can upload images of their reindeer (from stores) around the place and each day the most creative one will win a kikki.K prize worth $500. See www.kikki-k.com for details.

Another gift giving initiative you can take part in for prizes is from the skincare treatment clinics, Caci. The Caci Christmas wishlist is a Facebook app that lets you choose your top three gifts and send it to loved ones for gift ideas. When you share your wishlist, you go into the draw to win $500 worth of MOR and Murad product. Go to www.facebook.com/CaciNZ for details.

A third interactive Christmas idea hails from Stella Artois – which I did not realise until now was created for Christmas time originally, and stella means star. This Christmas edition came promoting the online app where you enter a friend’s address and they’ll electronically send a short clip of a foxy lady (‘Christmas Carole’) delivering personalised beer to their place using Google maps. Clever. If you’d like to check the app out, visit www.facebook.com/StellaArtoisNZ

We love body oils and here’s a great one that is an awesome price, too. Sukin Wellbeing Body Oil can be rubbed into skin, used as a massage oil, or added to yoru bath to hydrate skin with Marula oil, soybean oil, and other botanical oils. It is a limited edition release and available now for $28.99 for 100ml from selected Farmers, pharmacies, and health stores or by phoning 0800 118 311 or see www.sukinorganics.com for stockists.

Continuing with the skin and food theme, we have – well – Skin Food, the fabulous rich body cream from Weleda. This is a fabulous multi-tasker to soothe dry skin using 100% Natrue Certified ingredients, with calendula, pansy and chamomile well known for their soothing properties. It comes in a cool green metal tube and is 75ml so you can take it on flights, too. Skin Food retails for $21.90 from health stores and pharmacies or see www.weleda.co.nz.

La Mav, organic skin science from Australia, has released a Green Clay Detox Mask and an Intense Moisture Nightly Repair Nectar. The skin detoxifying mask absorbs impurities and excess oil and moisturises skin with bio-actives including Marula oil. You can use it every second day to purify skin and it retails for $54.95 from selected pharmacies, department stores, spas and health food stores or see www.lamav.com. My hit pick is La Mav Intense Moisture Nightly Repair Nectar which I have on my skin right now. It smells absolutely heavenly and I even love the opaque grey-blue bottle with a medicinal-looking eye dropper inside. It soothes and moisturises skin using bio-actives including Argan oil, Marula oil, and Sea Buckthorn seed oils. The nectar retails for $79.99 for 30ml.

The cutest PR box award has to go to the blue box containing a blue velvet cushion with Clean & Clear Advantage Blackhead Clearing Scrub on it! They couldn’t have hit the nail more on the ‘head’ (no pun intended) with the whole royal theme just prior to the royal baby announcement. The new exfoliating scrub lifts away dirt and oil to fight blackheads. It retails for $10.99 from supermarkets, department stores and pharmacies.

I’m loving this metal bucket, too – it came with bottles of delicious and refreshing sparkling Chi, which is now sugar-free. Chi is available from supermarkets nationwide and a much more grown up and healthy soda than sugary pops.
