Australian supermodel – and now mother -Miranda Kerr is the Brand Ambassador for new haircare brand Clear. The range of five shampoos and four conditioners are imaed at scalp and hair beauty using Nutrium 10TM, a blend of vitamins and nutrients to nourish the scalp, taking the emphasis back to the ‘root’ of the problem rather than the ends.

Clear sent this fabulous Mason Pearson bristle brush with the new shampoo and conditioner. They state that the emphasis "has traditionally been on the ends, yet 99 per cent of hair’s natural strength and beauty comes from the scalp."

Miranda Kerr says, “To be chosen to represent such an innovative brand like Clear Scalp & Hair Beauty Therapy is very exciting. When I use Clear Scalp & Hair Beauty Therapy, I know that my hair will look radiant from root to tip. I’m all about a simple and effective top-to-toe beauty regime and, with Clear, I know that my hair is being fed from within.” It’s also very low priced, around the $6 to $10 mark.

Clairol Professional Visible Repair range has been formulated for frizzy, porous hair often resulting from sunny days spent in the chlorine and ocean. Over-dry hair has suffered from chemical, or seasonal damage – or both, and this range using Radialux Micro-ions to fill cracks in hair cuticle and restore its surface. Visible Repair shampoo, conditioner, and Intensive Mask retail for $16.50 each, the serum ampules for $24.80 for 6, and two balms: an Ends Balm and a Conditioning Balm, for $16.50 each. It is available in selected salons nationwide.

Ridding our hair of unwanted toxins seems to be a bit of catchcry and I personally like the idea of my hair ‘detoxing’. O&M, the Australian natural brand of haircare (distributed by Boutique Brands) has released Hydrate and Conquer, an ultimate hair hydration pack with five of its best-sellers. The travel or trial pack contains O&M Original Detox shampoo, Hydrate & Conquer shampoo and conditioner, The Power Base protein masque, and Seven Day Miracle moisture masque which retail for $17.50 each. Another haircare product taking the roots-not-ends approach by focusing on the scalp health, is Therapro Mediceuticals. Their purifying shampoo VIVID cleanses hair – particularly before and after a chemical service – and Moist-Cyte Hydrating Therapy moisturises hair. It is formulated with natural plant extracts to hydrate all dry, damaged hair types without weight or build-up. The moisturizing formula detangles, softens, conditions and adds shine and even reduces static electricity. Talking to a haircare specialist will mean you get the right combination for your hair needs. Mediceuticals is available through fine salons, spas, and professional hair restoration clinics. See www.mediceuticals.co.nz for their stockists.

Schwarzkopf Nordic Blonde offers a solution to brassy blonde hair with its cool metallic lightener for home hair colouring. Nordic Platinum Lightener is $13.89 with a metallic shine and no hint of yellow, and Nordic Blonde Lightening Spray is $12.99 for touch-ups and highlights. Available at supermarkets and some pharmacies.

Hair gone dry and dull? JOICO golden K-Pak is a gorgeously decadent purse with basically what amounts to nutrition for hair. The pack – perfect for Christmas presents – has K-Pak shampoo and conditioner, K-PAK Intense Hydrator, and K-PAK Color Therapy Restorative Styling Oil, all good to go.
