As the weather warms up, my first icecream delivery of the season, as well as the latest releases in skincare and happenings, in the late-November column of On My Desk…

These won’t be literally ‘on my desk’ for long or there’ll be nothing left of them, but Streets sent the new limited edition pink ribbon Magnum Strawberry White Crumble ice creams that help support NZ Breast Cancer Foundation.

In fact there’s a lot of food coming with things this week…

Staying with the pink theme above, Johnson’s sent out classic pink lamingtons promoting the Johnson’s Baby favourites, baby lotion and baby oil. They’re $4.99 from supermarkets nationwide.

Also from Johnson’s but slightly healthier was the delish tropical fruits muesli jar that came announcing delicious summer skin that can be nourished with Johnson’s Body care products, body wash and lotion, both $9.99 each from supermarkets.

OPSM and Sunglass Hut had a candy bar in red, white and blue at their AW13 season preview event held at Artspace. We got to have a sneak peek at some amazing ‘sweet’ styles from their leading designer brands, in both optical and sunglasses. The little white bag of sweets is literally on my desk as I have devoured its contents.

Yes To Cucumbers Daily Calming Moisturizer is another food-derived natural skincare product from the quality-yet-low priced brand, Yes To, sold exclusively in Countdown supermarkets. It is – as you’d expect from cucumbers – a cooling and soothing daily moisturiser and retails for $29.99 from Countdown.

The Collective sent out new small pots of Mango yoghurt and Russian Fudge yoghurt to try and they were instantly devoured by the children. The mini sized tubs are a new thing for this local gourmet brand, providing a snack sized alternative to the standard supermarket brands tubs, and they sell for $4.10 for four.

Something a bit different from the brand known for its essential oils in delicate colours is this high glam, shiny gold new Rococco range from The Aromatherapy Co. It features a gorgeous Rococco gold skull money box ($29.99), as well as the more usual candle ($29.99), diffuser ($29.99) and room spray ($16.99) to add a touch of luxe in your room. I have the diffuser on now in the Thread office – so good.

Go Healthy travel sickness pills came with a typo travel wallet suggesting a solution for those who don’t travel so well. GO Healthy’s @ease is a 100% natural solution to travel sickness, with only natural ingredients. You have one capsule 30 minutes before car rides, flights, or ferry trips …and you’ll travel better. Priced at $9.99 from health stores and pharmacies and www.gohealthynz.co.nz

My fave soy candle brand in the world, Ecoya, have released a Holiday in London candle in time for Christmas. It is fragranced with spices evocative of the festive season and would make a perfect gift – or to burn in your own home – to fragrance your house with the smells of Christmas. It is described as "citrus top notes lead to a heart of rosewood on a base of balsam, cedar and vanilla." The candle is a warm, brown colour with a snowflake on the label, and is housed in the famous glass lidded Metro jar, inside a white gift box ($49.99).

And upcoming exciting events…

Imagine my delight at one of my favourite brands of all time Karen Walker opening a brand spanking new store in the soon-to-open Britomart Pavilions retail garden complex. The invite came for her store opening suitably printed in gold and thankfully proffering free valet parking. Also opening shortly alongside Karen Walker are Taylor and Juliette Hogan, with Trelise Cooper, Bobbi Brown cosmetics, and many more to come.

The very cool and crafty Auckland Art + Craft Fair is open to the public for a gold coin donation, at the Aotea Centre on Saturday 8th December 11- 4pm. Perfect for Christmas present shopping – or selfish gift buying – so I’ll be there!
