ON MY DESK: March Make-up

Nvey Eco is a certified NATRUE cosmetics brand from Melbourne Australia that has some beautiful makeup products you should try if you like high quality makeup that contains certified organic ingredients.

nvey eco Nourishing Bronzer comes in a sleek mirrored compact in a formula that treats skin as you wear it; with organic jojoba oil, carrot oil, and Vitamins A & C. nvey eco Nourishing Bronzer pictured in shade Natural Bronze and Brush sold separately.

Yesto Carrots is well-known for its natural and low-priced skincare sold at supermarkets and enters the makeup realm with this nourishing lip balm with a pastel pink or plum tint. It has sunflower seed oil, cocoa seed butter, and jojoba oil to hydrate dry lips. Yesto Carrots Color Balm in rosy bloom and soft plum with Vitamin E is available only at Countdown, priced at $6.99.

German top-selling brand ARTDECO has a couple of options to suit you in blush, whether you prefer a powder applied via brush, or a cream blush applied with fingertips. ARTDECO Blusher ($20) slots into their famous magnetic compacts that come with a mirror and its own brush. You can buy one compact, and change out the make-up inside; one blusher will fit along the width, or 3 small eyeshadows. ARTDECO Cream Rouge for cheeks and lips ($18) showcases the current trend we’ve seen a lot of lately, of blending colour onto the lips for a sheer wash of colour, or the cheek. Blusher is worn higher on the cheekbones this season. Buy ARTDECO at Farmers. www.farmers.co.nz

Also from ARTDECO comes their new Make-up Base which I have been using and find very good, and their Anti-Aging BB Cream, which I wore and liked for its light feel but still medium coverage for a BB Cream. Unlike many BB Creams aimed at the teen market, ARTDECO BB Cream is formulated to combat signs of ageing and has a SPF15. ARTDECO BB Cream retails for $34 for skin perfecting, and $46 for the anti-aging. Available at Farmers www.farmers.co.nz

L’Oreal Paris Glam Shine Balmy Gloss follows the lip crayon trend seen on Clinique Chubby Sticks and Bobbi Brown lip crayons. I found them quite sheer in coverage. Balmy Gloss comes in 6 shades and retail for $19.99 each; available from April 2014 from Farmers www.farmers.co.nz, selected pharmacies, and department stores.

I am a huge fan of Karen Murrell and eagerly await her new releases, which are all-natural with no nasties. I have her lippies in my drawer, handbag, and bathroom cupboard. This season, Auckland-based Karen has released these five gorgeous new petal shades. Inspired by the colours of flowers, there’s orchid.bloom, peony.petal, lavender.laughter, camellia.morning, and poppy.passion, all priced at $29.99 each. Available now from Farmers www.farmers.co.nz, selected pharmacies, and department stores and online at www.karenmurrell.com

L’Oreal Paris is about to release a new line of lipsticks into its popular Color Riche line: Moisture Matte Lipsticks. But don’t worry – these are not drying; even though they’re matte, they contain jojoba oil to keep lips comfortable while colour stays deep and true. The lipsticks, in 8 initial shades, retail for $23.99 available from April 2014 from Farmers www.farmers.co.nz, selected pharmacies, and department stores.

L’Oreal Paris Color Riche Le Crayon de Couleur are an eyeshadow and liner in one. They are ideal for creating a quick and easy wash of colour for eyes, and are $19.99 available from April 2014 from Farmers www.farmers.co.nz, selected pharmacies, and department stores.

If you know the M.A.C Mineralize range, you will veritably quiver with excitement that they have just put out six new eyeshadow compacts. The new compacts have a quad of 4 coordinated colour combinations, for day and night looks. The six quads are: A Glimmer of Gold, A Waft of Grey, A Harvest of Greens, A Sprinkle of Blues, A Medley of Mauves, A Party of Pastels, and retail for $115 each, from all M.A.C locations. Pictured here: A Medley of Mauves, with these incredible pink, brown, and purple eyeshadows.

Mineralize Glass is a new Lipglass infused with rich, nourishing nutrients for soft full pout still with that Lipglass shine we know and love. The 12 Lipglass shades, including Lovingly Yours pictured above, have new packaging, and retail for $58.00. M.A.C Mineralize Rich Lipstick comes in 6 new shades: Good Taste, Be A Lady, Bold Spring, Be Fabulous, Pure Pout, and So Good (pictured above) and also retail for $58.00 from all M.A.C locations from 3rd March. See www.maccosmetics.com for more info.

Maybelline New York has joined the nude fashion trend seen on the catwalks at New York Fashion Week with these Color Show ‘Stripped Nudes’ nail polishes. L-R pictured are Tan Lines, Bare It All, and In Your Flesh. Available now at Maybelline New York stockists nationwide.

I love this shade from Morgan Taylor, called Mint Chocolate Chip. Morgan Taylor is an American range of professional nail lacquer with a creative colour palette with saturated colour pigments for true, deep colours and luminous metallics. In NZ, Morgan Taylor is available at Monaco Nails in Ellerslie, Auckland, who do nails (from $30, pedis $40) as well as running nail technician courses with Trainer, Penny Lawler. Phone 09 574 5573 for more info and online at www.monaco.ac.nz

The latest foundation from L’Oreal Paris is a lighter formula of the Nude Magique foundation they launched in 2012. This new ‘Eau de Teint’, which is French for makeup water, suits the trend for lighter-feeling foundations – perhaps as women have become accustomed to wearing lighter BB creams nowadays. It comes in 6 shades and is $29.99 for 30ml, available from April 2014 from Farmers www.farmers.co.nz, selected pharmacies, and department stores.
