ON MY DESK: new fragrances Autumn 2015 including Elizabeth Arden Untold Eau Fraiche, Juicy Couture Hollywood Royal, Confiance by Valeur Absolue Parfums, and Eclat d’Arpège for men from Lanvin.
Juicy Couture Hollywood Royal is a new, limited edition eau de toilette and I think is the most glamorous of these perfumes. In a starry golden bottle and glittery lid, it’s the high glam we would expect from Juicy Couture and their famously flirty and fun range. This latest fragrance draws on celebrity and popular culture with their star-studded bottle, entitled Hollywood Royal. Be an IT Girl in your own home with this youthful and gorgeous scent. The fragrance has opening notes of candied apple and pear and pomelo; a heart of jasmine sambac, gardenia Brazil NP and tuberose fleur firnat, and a base of cashmere wood, vanilla, marshmellow and soft musks. This Autumn, Elizabeth Arden launched the latest fragrance in its UNTOLD family: UNTOLD Eau Fraiche. With vibrant citrus and succulent fruity accents, Eau Fraiche is a crisp and fresh new scent in the perfume line. It opens with Sicilian lemon and juicy pear, moving onto notes of white tea and mandarin and then florals of freesia and lily of the valley, and ending on base notes of soft musk and cashmere woods. Once again, the packaging is incredible – a twisted faceted bottle in an iridescent box with green holographic effects. Valeur Absolue Parfums offer more than just great scents, they make good sense too – with semi-precious stones encased in each bottle to embody a mood that the fragrance gives. This latest, their fifth fragrance – Confiance by Valeur Absolue Parfums – has oriental tones and is spicy, rather than ‘too flowery’. To boost self-confidence, this scent is based on vanilla, which is given to calm patients down. Essential oils and natural vanilla, minerals of calcium and potassium and carnelian make a reassuring perfume to boost your well-being. Egyptians believed it had protective powers, and keeps negative thoughts at bay, helps you concentrate, and gives a zest for life. You can see the carnelian orange stones loose inside the actual bottle and it smells amazing. I’m wearing this now, and I wish you could smell it! Eclat d’Arpège Pour Homme is the masculine version of the Lanvin classic women’s fragrance, Eclat d’Arpège, which was first created back in 1927 for the thirtieth birthday of her daughter, Marguerite – a music enthusiast, hence the arpege title. Drawinh upon the Lanvin fashion line, the bottle is clear and stylish with refined materials for sophisticated men who appreciate elegant simplicity. It opens with sparkling top notes, a fairly subtle middle, and a woody base of musks and sandalwood.I found it delicate and refined, rather than over the top and showy. Eclat d’Arpège for men 50ml $90 and 100ml $120 available in leading department stores and pharmacies.
