Allan Scott Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc 2012 has had a packaging refresh to give it superior quality stock paper and a change of bottle to better reflect the quality of the wine itself. The 2012 Sauvignon Blanc is an intense wine – sensational weather in the later parts of the growing season meant the grapes hung on the vines for two weeks longer than usual allowing hugely intense aromatics to develop without becoming over ripe.

Allan Scott Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc 2012 retails for $21.00 and the full range of Allan Scott Wines are available from Hancocks stores, and online at www.allanscott.com

And now you’ve got a glass in hand, how about a slice? In response to customer demand, Domino’s has made 7 new Chef’s Best range pizzas at the low price of $8 to give its fans premium taste – without the premium price tag. Thread tried them and recommends the ham – it was great. We loved that you can order easily online and pick up incredibly fast. For ham off the bone, to roast pork belly, blue cheese crème fraiche and more, visit www.dominos.co.nz

This week is Easter and The Warehouse have your chocolate needs covered. This ‘Easter basket’ arrived with a soft and fluffy colourful Pillow Pet bunny rabbit ($33.99) which is a huge hit with the three-year old, and boxed chocolate Easter eggs by Waikato Valley. The marshmellow chocolate fish one looks especially good. Instore now and online at www.thewarehouse.co.nz

From the makers of e-cloth comes this e-towel. It is a super duper suped-up tea-towel. It basically has four times the absorbancy of a regular dish towel due to its special fibres, and gives a sparkling finish to glassware. It’s guaranteed for at least 300 washes and is $17.95 from Stevens, Bed Bath & Beyond and selected stores. See www.e-cloth.co.nz for stockists.

I don’t sleep well at night and one thing people keep recommending I try is tart cherry juice, so I was excited when this arrived. GO Healthy Go Cherry Sleep aids the sleep and nervous system with natural ingredients from this New Zealand health supplements company. It is $24.90 from pharmacies and health stores or see www.gohealthynz.co.nz for stockists. I’ll be trying it out tonight at bedtime.

New from natural premium yoghurt brand The Collective comes these yoghurt drinks, and now, The Collective yoghurt sticks, giving you even more ways to enjoy their fruity flavours and fun packaging. The frozen yoghurt sticks in Bouncing Berry and Bonkers 4 Bananas are probably aimed at kids but why not have one at any age for a healthy snack. I’ve been having the pourable yoghurt drinks on my cereal instead of milk – so yum.

Hubbard’s has released some very good toasted muesli. I am a sucker for anything feijoa, so I tore into the Feijoa & apple flavour and devoured the whole box this week for breakfast. Apparently they have achieved a world first for feijoa in a muesli, too. It is $6.49 a box from supermarkets. See www.hubbards.co.nz for info.

Going from breakfast now to dinner, Cajun Food Products sent a metal cooking bowl of its products to try out. It’s very Southern American in style and content, with Cajun seasoning and chicken fry. Whilst I’m not really a deep fryer, we made the jumbalaya rice for dinner and it was super tasty. They retail around $6 each from New World and Pak n Save supermarkets. For more info see www.cajunfoodcompany.co.nz

Blackmores Immuno Shield came with chicken soup to ward off winter ills. As well as chicken soup, you can help protect your body from colds and sickness this winter by getting the right vitamins and minerals from food you eat and supplements. Blackmores Immuno Shield gives your immunity a boost. It is $35.50 from pharmacies and health stores or see www.blackmoresnz.co.nz for stockists.

Still on a health note, I’ve been a bit worried about the amount of iron my kids are eating or not eating, so I was pleased to try out Red Seal Floradix Formula. It’s a tonic that provides the equivalent of 7.5mg of iron per 10ml. The kids love it and want more every time I give it to them at breakfast. Floradix is recommended for women especially those breastfeeding and pregnant, growing children and basically anyone whose diet is lacking in natural iron and vitamins. It’s around $23 a bottle from supermarkets.

Freya’s and Nature’s Fresh Hot Cross Buns came for Easter and my pick was the spiced Hot Cross Buns, although Nature’s Fresh do a spiced-but-raisin-less bun for those for whom the search for a plain bun has been fruitless (sorry for the bad bun pun.) They retail around $4 at supermarkets.

Cupcakes came for Disney On Ice presents Princesses & Heroes – a show on ice starring eight Disney Princesses and their devoted Princes, which is touring NZ from 15 May to 3rd June 2013 with tickets on sale now at www.ticketmaster.co.nz and www.ticketek.co.nz. For tour dates for each city and more information, see www.disneyonice.co.nz

And lastly, here’s something different. It’s food, but for cats, not people. My two Tonkinese cats are doing the Purina One Challenge, eating Purina One for thirty days to see if they have changes for the better in their coats and so on.
