This week’s On My Desk column is quite foodie, with new releases that have crossed my path from Brown Bros, Paneton, and Invivo wines, as well as Rider Cosmetics, and industry news from Sample Bar, OPSM, Cybele, and Father Rabbit…
It’s been a good week for wine – and coming up, we’ll be at Brancott Wines new season launch, but more about that next time.
Invivo wine have continued their appeal to the female demo with Belle Sauvignon Blanc and are now introducing Belle Rose, both with 30% less calories and lower alcohol, at 9%. It is called Belle in New Zealand and Bella overseas.
Being half-baked may sound like an insult when it comes to ideas but when it comes to these half-baked treats, it’s a complete compliment. Paneton has croissants and pain au chocolats you bake yourself so they’re fresh and still warm when you eat them, from authentic French recipes from the owner Dominique who grew up in a patisserie in a small French town, made here with New Zealand ingredients.
Below: Katherine Brown of Brown Bros wines hosted a cake pops decorating session to celebrate the release of new season wines, perfect for weddings and the summer season. That’s my purple heart cake pop front and centre.
Sample Bar has started in New Zealand following a template popular overseas whereby companies get avid beauty fans to try their products in a monthly subscription sampling box system. Subscribers pay $25 a month for a surprise package of five beauty and skincare products in generous sizes.
My Sample Bar pack had Dermalogica Daily Microfoliant, Moa The Green Balm, ModelCo Turbo Lashwand, Evo Great Hydrator Moisture Mask for hair, Facial Fresh cloth face masks, Wine Wipes, and a month sub to Charlotte Dodson’s yoga lessons online. They are doing 500 boxes in October at their website www.samplebar.co.nz
An Australian beauty brand that’s new to me, is a skincare line called Rider Cosmetics with non-surgical scientific-based cosmetics, founded by Damien Rider. The new releases include a Hyaluronic Moisturiser, Multi Peptide Serum, Lash Builder, Lip Plumper, and a breast enhancer aimed at increasing nitric oxide blood flow to encourage tissue growth. OPSM have launched a new wish list service online reworking the theme of the traditional gift registry via social media to give your family and friends a crystal clear picture of what you want – just in time for Christmas. While shopping online, customers can hit Facebook Share to make their OPSM Wishlist photos known to their Friends. The promo is on from 28 November 2012 until Christmas.
Speaking of OPSM, at the breakfast media launch at Euro, guests received these little calico bags that had gorgeous chain necklaces with tiny leather purses on, called Little Leather Lockets by Jen Booth. Super cute. You can get them from her Australian blog for $78 at www.jenbooth.com.au
Cybele is moving online – as well as at various stockists nationwide – and closing her Ponsonby Road store with a massive sale. It will be FABULOUS. The Cybele clearance sale is open Friday, Saturday and Sunday 12-14th October 10am -6pm, behind 62 Ponsonby Road, Auckland.
The popular local online homewares and gifts shop Father Rabbit has opened the doors to his home at 14 Cockburn Street in Grey Lynn for his customers to shop in person. We’ll be heading along to the media launch of Father Rabbit General Store on Wednesday 17th so will keep you posted on how it all looks.
