Bioactive has been a catchphrase in skincare for some time now. But we have had to pay for it. So here’s something new; a bioactive and paraben-free beauty range that is priced around $20 from pharmacies.

The new Australian beauty brand, Puretopia, is launching their new, natural hair and skincare range direct into pharmacies nationwide. It has anti-aging skincare for the face, sensitive care shampoo and conditioner for the hair, and body care – washes and lotions.

The brand name is a combination of pure, representing the botanical ingredients in its formulations, and utopia, the Greek concept of an ideal place or state.

In response to their consumer research, Puretopia developed particular skincare to deal with common concerns: wrinkles, uneven skin tone and sensitivity. Haircare concerns raised in research included colour fade, loss of shine and irritated scalp.

Thus, each of the Puretopia skincare products includes anti-ageing and nutrition actives, vitamins, sunscreens, essential fatty acids, anti-oxidants and peptides. Bioactive ingredients in the Pure Nutrition Anti-Oxidant and Omega Oils Facial Serum include Argan, rosehip, seabuckthorn, cranberry, blackcurrant, and bilberry oils, and shea butter. It comes in a three roller applicator which feels lovely and cooling to apply, and retails for $29.99.

I’m wearing the Instant Moisture Daily Facial Moisturiser SPF15 today under my make-up. It is $25.99 and includes bioactive ingredients evening primrose oil, avocado oil and olive fruit oil along with a peptide complex to stimulate skin cells.

The Puretopia haircare products – a shampoo and conditioner retailing for $15.99 each – feature UV filters, a patented Colour Lock Protection and are 100 per cent sulfate and paraben free.

Puretopia guarantee their products contain no synthetic fragrances, parabens, skin drying sulfates, artificial colours, phthalates, propylene glycol, DEA, TEA or silicones, and are against testing on animals.

The packaging feels great with its matte-touch plastic tubes, which are all recyclable.
