Don’t let wrinkles cross the line. We draw the line when it comes to wrinkles and check out these latest and greatest wrinkle-fighters.

To be honest, I never thought I’d be interested in wrinkle creams, with the bulletproof audacity of a twenty-something, then a thirty-something, without lines. They seemed to hit all at once and, as I’m not doing Botox, I’m suddenly interested in the efficacy and speediness of cures. Q10 (in Nivea, and Trilogy) and Retinol/Vitamin A (in Murad and Garnier) are still favourites, as well Hyaluronic Acid (in Trilogy, Osmosis, Kiehl’s, and Dermalogica), peptides (in Art a face, and Osmosis) and the latest trend in skincare – bee venom – we’re seeing increasingly.

The pencil-like Murad Time Release Retinol Concentrate for Deep Wrinkles has a time released formula to deliver Retinol and Vitamin A deep down to be used as the skin needs it. Murad’s first deep wrinkle treatment, it claims to reduce wrinkles by up to 45% in six weeks and is $125 at Caci salons nationwide and online at www.murad.co.nz

Auckland scientific skincare company Art a Face has released a peptide anti-wrinkle formula, D-Crease Line Relaxer, to treat fine lines and wrinkles and firm and tone the skin. I used the Art a Fce night cream recently too and found it really replenishing and hydrating. D-Crease Line Relaxer (I love the pun in its name!) has five key ingredients: Acetyl Hexapeptide-3, Hibiscus Oligopeptide, keratin protein, kinetin, and witch hazel. Use continuously for 30 days for best results. $120 from selected doctors, appearance medicine clinics, salons and online at www.artaface.com

I’ve been familiar with this American-made brand, Osmosis, since it launched in New Zealand a few years back (at Lucy & the Powder Room then) and was one of the first well-known ‘active skincare’ brands here, with transformation serums for DNA repair. They were really active (almost tingly, due to the Vitamin A), and so I was pleasantly surprised how calming and gentle this one is. The Osmosis Quench Plus Hydrating Plumper feels luxurious and moisturising on my face and I’m using it at night, to assist with plumping and fine lines. In fact, I look forward to putting this on my face at night, it feels so nice. It has L-Hyaluronic acid, and tetrapeptide-3, and shea butter to moisturise. Quench Plus is $107; see www.osmosisskincare.co.nz for stockists.

Well-loved Kiwi brand Trilogy has added to its Age Proof range (look for the silver stripe on the packaging) with Line Smoothing Day Cream, $55.90. It uses Hyaluronic acid to hydrate and plump up skin and amino acid hydroxyproline – derived from plants – which sounds like a miracle worker as it stimulates the contraction of collagen fibres, defends skin from free radicals, and protects elastin. And we all like elastin. It sounds good enough to eat with the addition of melon extract, avocado, olive, and evening primrose oil bringing their juicy goodness of essential fatty acids to the party. Available at Farmers, pharmacies and department stores and www.trilogyproducts.com

Nivea Q10 Day Cream has just stepped up its sun protection factor, bringing it to SPF30+ so you get added protection against sun damage with this popular cream, containing CoEnzyme Q10. It retails at the very attractive price of $19.95 at supermarkets and pharmacies.

Kiehl’s Super Multi-Corrective Cream is the latest anti-ageing product to be added to the Kiehl’s skincare range. Super Multi-Corrective Cream is a powerhouse of ingredients to attack skin texture and elasticity and wrinkles, using Kiehl’s Tri-active technology of Jasmonic Acid, Beech Tree extract, and Hyaluronic Acid. It’s priced at $89 and available from 22nd October at Kiehl’s Britomart, Smith & Caughey’s, Ballantynes, and Kirkcaldie & Stains. See our photos from the Auckland launch event at Al Brown’s Test Kitchen, here on thread.co.nz

Dermalogica has a little pot of goodness here. Ultrasmoothing Eye Serum is a powerful, peptide-based formula designed to stimulate collagen-production – which will help smooth out those lines we all get around the eyes that seem to add on years! It blends together brown and red algae and chamomile to reduce puffiness, and uses oat kernel extract as a soothing agent, with active ingredient Hyaluronic Acid to maximise hydration. Dermalogica’s own UltraCalming Complex will be a blessing to those with sensitive skin, and the knowledge that its made without artificial fragrances and colours. $92 from Dermalogica counters and online at www.dermalogica.co.nz

Trilogy is incorporating its high-performance Rosapene formula – basically rosehip oil made better and faster with botanical oils rich in antioxidants and EFAs – in its Eye Contour Cream. The cream, which has a gel-cream consistency, is aimed at smoothing fine lines while reducing puffiness in this delicate area. It also contains aloe vera and acai, and retails for $48.90. www.trilogyproducts.com

Garnier Ultra-Lift DEEP Wrinkle Day Cream is a bargain product for this category, priced at only $17.99 and available widely, including at The Warehouse stores and online. It’s a retinol-based formula, and has an added extra of SPF30 for sun protection.

Here’s to no more lines!
