Up until now, geoskincare – New Zealand’s only full range of certified organic mineral skincare products – has been in health spas and beauty salons for the past 10 years.
Now, with organic certification it is available at selected pharmacies throughout New Zealand.
The full geoskincare treatment range is made up of 22 products (including six products especially for men, and is certified organic through AssureQuality, with ingredients derived from natural, unspoiled sources, and products are never tested on animals.
geoskincare products (see www.geoskincare.co.nz) are made from pure extracts, organic oils and unique minerals found only in New Zealand’s geothermal regions. The products are full of organic ingredients derived from natural products such as avocado, cocoa butter, carrot, chamomile, kowhai, cucumber, juniperberry, lime, grapeseed and macadamia.
The range is free of parabens, sodium lauryl sulphate, petrochemicals, formaldehyde, and other harsh chemicals.
Below: the clean black and white packaging echoes their tagline of "pure and simple."Much attention has been put into the look and feel of the products and packaging, down to the scriptures in the fine print to inspire. The men’s Daily Moisture has "Wise men store up knowledge – Proverbs 10:14" and my favourite, on the Hydrating Hand & Body Cream, "Diligent hands bring wealth – Proverbs 10:4." Not your proverbial hand cream.
The unique ingredient in geoskincare products is geothermal silica, sourced exclusively in New Zealand. Silica is the building block of cell growth, used by virtually every cell in the body. Often referred to as ‘the beauty mineral’, it helps keep the skin hydrated and hair and nails looking healthy and strong.
Star products include geoskincare’s Daily Cleansing Milk which contains geothermal silica, organic olive oil and calendula ($39.90) and Hydrating Hand & Body Cream with organic chamomile and avocado oil ($19.90).
Thread.co.nz’s favourite is the Hydra Gel ($42) enriched with organic aloe vera, organic oils and extracts with antioxidants to help reduce the signs of ageing and naturally calm and firm the skin. We love the light feel and the faintly herb-smelling gel. A very light touch if you’re not into heavy, over-rich creams.
Managing Director Penny Vergeest founded the NZ Skincare Company in 1998. During her training as an aesthetician, Penny began researching the beneficial properties of natural extracts and minerals and their effect on the body and skin, inspiring the formulation of the geoskincare range.
Penny’s passion for holistic wellness is evident is every aspect of the business and the products themselves. “At geoskincare we are dedicated to helping consumers understand which ingredients should be in skin and body care products, and which ingredients should not! We believe there is no room in this industry for ingredients that are toxic and are committed to producing skin and body care products which are healthy, not harmful.”
