I visited the Grey Lynn BARE Waxing and Skin Centre at 41 Crummer Road, but BARE also has Albany and Glen Innes salons.

My therapist was Mahia, pictured left.

BARE is clean, light, pretty and smells nice, and I was completely relaxed about jumping on the waxing table. I had a half leg wax which costs $45.

Mahia is chatty (but not too chatty!) and 100% professional. My waxing was quick and almost painless, and she treated my legs with a spray including ti tree oil – a natural antiseptic to take care of my skin while the pores were still open from the waxing.

Mahia gave me some great advice – she noticed that my hair growth is irregular (I alternate waxing with using a Braun Silk-Epil), and recommended the Dermalogica buffing cloth ($35) to help eliminate ingrown hairs.

Also worth noting is BARE have a ‘refer a friend’ programme wherein if you refer a friend, you get a $10 credit on your account (you can refer as many friends as you care to.) For more info and to book see www.barewaxing.co.nz
