I have sometimes felt that I have existed in a black hole in the skin care world. I neither fit into the early 20s emerging-from-adolescence bracket, nor that which caters for the more mature skin. As someone in their early 30s I fit somewhere in the middle, and will be there a little while yet!

Elizabeth Arden has attempted to address this skincare void with the introduction of their INTERVENE skincare line. The products are all about pre-emptive skincare (prevention rather than cure), and are formulated for the specific needs of women aged 25-39.

They have recently added some new products to the INTERVENE line, including the Daily Moisture Lotion SPF 15 (RRP $75) and the Peel & Reveal Revitalizing Treatment (RRP $82.)

Firstly the Peel & Reveal Revitalizing Treatment, which is in the form of a peel-off masque.

I had mixed feelings about this product. I am personally not a fan of this style of masque and prefer the mud or crème type. I find the peel off masque can sometimes feel be quite sticky and feels a bit like putting cold honey on your face and leaving it there. It felt a little bit chemically on application and initially stung my eyes. However it smells lovely and my skin did feel quite good after using it.

The product contains vitamin rich cabernet grapeseed extract and alpha and beta hydroxy acids, and is said to exfoliate and lift away dullness, dry surface flakes and signs of aging.

I loved the Daily Moisture Lotion.

This oil-free moisturiser is the perfect weight for my slightly oily skin. My face felt perfectly hydrated after using it – no remaining dryness or tightness, nor overly greasy.

The added SPF 15 also is a huge drawcard for me as I am aware of how important using sunscreen every day is for combating wrinkles later on. The lotion contains antioxidant vitamins C and E as well as beta hydroxy compounds to refine clarify and retexturise.

These two products are part of a greater range of products in the INTERVENE line and are definitely worth checking out if your skin is not yet “mature”.
