We’ve had pharmaceuticals, then cosmeceuticals, now get ready for…. natureceuticals!

After enjoying huge acclaim with skincare and professional spa therapies, Priori have launched a make-up line with high natural free-radical protection, called CoffeeBerry Perfecting Minerals.

The make-up range – which includes concealer, bronzer, foundation and a finisher – are treatment based and formulated with ingredients so pure that they can cover and reduce the appearance of skin redness even after chemical peels or laser resurfacing.

It is ideal for sensitive skin, acne, rosacea, broken capillaries, freckles, sun damage, blemishes, scars, birthmarks, varicose veins, uneven skin tone and dark circles, as the treatment minerals help improve skin tone and reduce redness.

It’s the first – and only – natural mineral collection infused with CoffeeBerry extract, providing cosmeceutical-grade anti-ageing benefits of free-radical protection and brush-on broad spectrum UV protection.

I tried the make-up line and had a facial using the CoffeeBerry skincare.

If you’re just going to get one thing, I would recommend the Perfecting Concealer SPF15 ($79). It is a concealer, but you can also use it as a full-face foundation for a full coverage over imperfections. However if you are very pale (like me) its medium-nude shade may be too dark for a full-face cover. Which brings us on to the foundation.

The Perfecting Foundation SPF15 ($79) comes in six shades for all skin colours; from fair, light and celtic skin tones through to deep, darker skin tones. Thread.co.nz likes that it has options for both yellow, and pink, skin undertones. I’m a yellow undertone but very fair, so I had Shade 1.

Like all powder foundations, you apply it lightly from the lid using a kabuki brush for a natural sheer look, or layered for full coverage. It’s been clinically proven to reduce the appearance of skin redness, dryness and improve overall appearance of the skin in two weeks. You can even safely sleep in it.

Finishing Touch ($79) is the translucent powder of the range. It provides a flattering softening effect on imperfections and is formulated to absorb oil, minimise pores and protect the skin while providing supreme translucency for lightweight sheer coverage that lasts all day.

The Sun Kissed compact retails at $79 and is a warm, richly-pigmented colour, complementary to all skin shades as an all-over complexion booster, blush, and/or bronzer. That’s a multi-use, great value compact!

And I can’t talk about this mineral make-up range without mentioning the beautiful – and eco-friendly – brushes.

The very attractive-looking ecofriendly and cruelty-free brushes are priced at very reasonable prices. The handles are bamboo, a highly sustainable plant with very low impact on the earth’s natural resources, and a stem made from recycled aluminum.

Kabuki Brush ($30) – ideal for the Perfecting Foundation application, buffing and blending.

Concealer Brush ($25) – with anti-bacterial taklon bristles to provide heavier coverage that is needed on skin’s problem areas.

Powder Brush ($35) – for applying Finishing Touch and Sun Kissed, providing a soft finish with the added benefit of shed-resistant taklon bristles.

And they’re eco-packaged. The products come in natural packaging made from biodegradable, natural plant plastics created by INGEO. Thread.co.nz loves that by using Ingeo natural plastic in 200,000 jars of CoffeeBerry Perfecting Minerals, it will save the equivalent of 3,000 gallons of gasoline and reduce greenhouse gases equal to driving a car 60,000 miles…That’s like planting 600 new trees!

PRIORI CoffeeBerry Natureceuticals are available at selected beauty salons and spas. Call 0800 575 565 or see www.spauniverse.co.nz for stockist info.
