I remember Le Tan back from my childhood; spreading it everywhere the sand or jandals didn’t cover. Now, the suncare brand with the slogan ‘Loving Summer Since 1977’ is back with a fresh new look for the summer of 2010 and it’s the official sunscreen of Surf Life Saving New Zealand.
Le Tan sunscreens are all PABA-free and provide broad spectrum UVA/UVB protection.
The range includes a variety of sunscreens for the whole family as well as mineral sunscreens and self-tanners.
SPF30+ Classic ($15.99 110ml tube) is a light, non-greasy everyday sunscreen.
SPF30+ Coconut ($15.99 110ml tube) has that distinctive summery fragrance that takes me to the Islands, sadly only metaphorically.
SPF30+ Kids ($12.99 75ml roll-on) is a gragrance-free light moisturising sunscreen for senistive skin and comes in a roll-on conveient for the school bag.
SPF30+ Sport Ultra Mist Spray ($26.99 250ml spray) is a transparent spray on gel that dries quickly for a touch-dry finish.
SPF30+ Daily Mineral Moisturising Sunscreen ($15.99 50ml Face, $22.95 100ml Body) has a natural mineral base (Zinc) free of chemical sunscreens, it is ideal for very sensitive skins that react to chemical sunscreens, including young children. 4 hour water resistant and enriched with Vitamin E and aloe vera. The Face sunscreen is an excellent base for makeup with its matte finish.
Thread put the self-tanning mousse to the test. Here’s what our reviewer, Christine Munro, said…
"At the start of every summer I berate myself for applying my self tan too roughly. I always ensure that I exfoliate first but don’t take enough care on my ankles and feet then I don’t wash my hands thoroughly enough.
The Le Tan Fast Tan Foaming Mousse is a lightweight foam that absorbed super fast into my skin, it is also tinted a caramel colour which made application easy. The instructions suggest two applications ½ an hour apart; I typically self-tan before bed so I only did one application.
The shade name ‘Deep Bronze’ had me a little concerned as I am quite fair, it dried faster than my usual cream, had no offensive smell and I was impressed by the natural colour my legs were the next morning. Would use again as it’s a budget friendly price too at $22.95."
