Osmosis – water moving from high concentration to low concentration- is a vital process for living organisms. Osmosis is also the name of a very much lauded skincare range that is racing off salon shelves in NZ. The creator, Dr. Ben Johnson, came to New Zealand recently to talk about his new MD range and the brand which uses hi-tech science in skincare for incredible results.

The breakthrough skincare range, Osmosis, has become known for its ‘deep dermis’ anti-aging properties. The all-natural active serums have a liposome delivery system that provides ten times greater absorption deep into our dermis layer where aging occurs.

Osmosis Skin Care offers a collection of facial products that are safe to use on even the most sensitive skin because they are non-inflammatory. They differ from the competition in avoiding ingredients that weaken and inflame the skin – AHAs, Retinols – and instead aim to correct and repair DNA damage at the same time.

And all this adds up to mean it’s very popular. It’s the fastest growing medical skin care in America today.

It is free of parabens, artificial fragrances, SLS’s and additives and uses more active ingredients per serum than any other line in the world.

I have been using the beauty range, mixing a squirt from the measured dosage pump bottles of Renew with Stemfactor and adding 10 drops from the eyedropper of Catalyst. Then I finish with a spritz of Clear Harmonized Water. Stemfactor and Catalyst are the two exciting hero products from the range.

Dr. Ben Johnson is excited to announce the launch of the MD only range.

These treatment serums represent a boost of 10% stronger liposome actives and adjustments to retinaldehyde that result in remarkable outcomes for every skin condition.

Osmosis believes that the typical strategy of using acids to force exfoliation has proven itself to be ineffective at making real changes in the skin and compromises our protective barrier which leads to more rapid aging.

Using adult human stem cells from three different types of cells Osmosis have customized the type and number of growth factors in StemFactor. Osmosis has over 150 stable and highly active growth factors that rejuvenate all aspects of skin aging. These growth factors are then delivered into the skin using liposome technology that improves penetration by 600%.

I had an Osmosis facial with Andrea at Lucy & the Powder Room at The Department Store in Takapuna, Auckland. They do various treatments starting from $50 for a mini facial. The products I had in my facial, called ‘Balance the Skin’, are as follows, with retail prices as at August 2011:

Gentle Cleanse ($65), Mend ($107), Clear Harmonized Water ($60), Stemfactor ($202) for cell regeneration, Quench ($67) a hydrating moisturiser, Shelter ($102) with SPF 29+, Refresh Eye Serum ($120) with Vitamin A, Repair ($107) a healing mud.

I followed the Osmosis facial with a shot of Core Beauty Juice ($45 for a concentrate bottle). They also recommended Omega supplements ($60) and Yellow Diamonds, 2 per day, ($100) lasts approximately a month.
