Living Nature has aligned with living legend and eternally youthful Lorraine Downes to be the face of the natural skincare brand.

Downes joined Petra Bagust in speaking on authentic beauty at a roadshow champagne and canapes event on Tuesday 30 November at Mantell’s on the Water at Auckland’s Westhaven harbour, after having toured New Zealand on a roadshow tour. Guests were invited to bring a product that contains parabens or phenoxyethanol to an amnesty bin and receive a voucher for half-price Living Nature products.

Lorraine Downes spoke on her personal journey from winning Miss Universe as a teen, through her marriage and divorce and two children, selling her modelling agency but retaining the image consultancy, and her book REAL – The Truth about Fashion, Beauty and Image (co-authored with Frances Jones.)

Downes resonates with Kiwi women in a similar way to Rachel Hunter in that we grew up with them, like our own Princess Dianas, and her brand is a strong one to align with the skincare company.

Downes says she turned down an offer of fronting a cosmeceutical brand and then when Living Nature came along she jumped at the chance as it was so in line with her personal values. In fact the name of the event, Universal Beauty, is a term from her book from 1997. Living Nature CEO John O’Toole (pictured in the panel photos, below) commented that Downes’ terms back in 1997 are the same words they are using now.

Petra Bagust hosted the event and gave a lively talk on her interest in skincare and touched on what she learned from her recent TV3 series, What’s really in our…?

Intricate designs made from flax leaves decorate the Living Nature skincare table, as the products contain the potent harakeke (flax oil extract).
