You can keep your minimalism; in this feature we’re looking at the opulence of maximalist style in these ornate beauty products…
You can keep your minimalism. Not for me the clean white boxes with sans serif font. I like a pop of colour, a curlicle of gold licking a box edge, and some highly unnecessary but utterly delightful decoration.
I get it from my mother, and my maternal Grandmother, both of whom had a love for Orientalism and Indian chinaware and fabrics. White sheets and taupe cushions? Not in their homes. Instead, tapestries and embroideries entertained the eye from every corner. In a nod to my Grandmother, I’ve photographed these on a Schiaparelli-pink Indian wool pashmina.
Here are some of the gorgeous new product releases showing an opulence of maximalist style. They are glamorous and confident, and bring a touch of luxury and personality to the home.
Viva La Juicy Noir is the latest fragrance from Juicy Couture; bringing a sensual version of their incredibly popular best seller, Viva La Juicy. it retains the ripe berry notes of the clasic original and adds a touch of honeysuckle and sandalwood. Noir is a limited edition release launching 4th November at Farmers, selected pharmacies, and department stores, priced at $104 for 30ml eau de parfum, $145 for 50ml, $195 for 100ml and $35 for the rollerball duos.
I love a good pun, so I smiled when I saw the new Nicky Minaj fragrance: MINAJESTY. This latest floral gourmand scent features another doll bottle, this time with a golden face and pink hair and a sexy corset. The eau de parfum spray 30ml is $79, 50ml is $101, and 100ml is $132 and rollerball 10ml is $31. MINAJESTY is available at Farmers and selected pharmacies and department stores from 4th November. This pink studded bag is a gift with purchase with the 100ml size while stocks last.
FLASH is the second ever fragrance from iconic shoe design house, Jimmy Choo. The name is a pun on the flash of camera bulbs and of course that it’s flash! The bottle recalls the cut glass chandeliers of ritsy nightclubs, in a pale blue like camera flashbulbs, and the lid is trimmed in a golden band. The fragrance has a base of white woods with jasmine and lily notes and top notes of strawberry, pink pepper, and a touch of spice. FLASH by Jimmy Choo is exclusively at Farmers stores for the month of November. It retails for $70 for 40ml eau de parfum, $110 for $60ml, and $160 for 100ml.
Versace has released EROS, a new fragrance for men, inspired by Greek mythology. The Perfumer, Aurelien Giuchard of Givaudan, describes it as fresh, oriental and woody; masculine with a glowing freshness. I tested it out on my man and can verify it smells great! Get your Greek god some today. Eau de toilette 50ml is $99 and 100ml is $120 from selected department stores.
