Just when you’ve perfected your beauty regime, something entirely leftfield comes along that wows you.
Here’s a look at some of the more unusual beauty releases on our desk; no "cleanser, toner, and moisturiser" in this lot.
A whipped conditioner…
Sebastian Professional has released Colour Ignite MONO – for single hair colours – and MULTI – for multi-tonal hair. The conditioner comes out like a hair mousse with micro bubbles to wrap hair fibre to seal in colour and extend vibrancy. I tried the multi one, and it really expands! Start small as it goes a long way and spreads all over your hair very easily. Shampoo $38 each and conditioner $40 each, available from selected salons nationwide. For stockists call 0800 728 333 or check out www.sebastianprofessional.com
A balm to minimise pores…
Benefit have come to the rescue of women concerned with large pores with The POREfessional balm to minimise the appearance of pores. It’s a make-up primer, but one specially designed to smooth over pores to give a flawless look both under, and over, make-up. It’s lightweight and oil-free and translucent to complement all skin types.
A silicone lip liner…
No, not silicone lip implants! ‘No Bleeding Lips’ is just what it says on the lid; an invisible lip liner designed to stop the feathering, or ‘bleeding’ of brightly coloured lipsticks into the skin around your mouth. This just gets worse as you get older, too. No Bleeding Lips creates a silicone-based line around the outline of your lips to create a defined lip line outside of your normal lipline, for a fuller pout. Plus, it will go with any lipstick shade. It retails for $29 from selected pharmacies nationwide.
A mask to fade pigmentation while you sleep…
Nimue Skin Technology is no stranger to science. Now, the derma-cosmeceutical skincare brand has released Melano Fade Mask using what they call cutting-edge molecule technology to bring results after 3 to 6 applications. Used overnight while you sleep the mask evens out skin tone and reduces skin pigmentation and age spots. The mask uses naturally-derived ingredients to brighten, exfoliate and moisturise the skin for a radiant, glowing appearance.
It costs a very reasonable $65 and stockist information is online at www.globalbeauty.co.nz.
An amino acid from plants…
Trilogy’s Age Proof line – with naturally-derived Hyaluronic Acid to plump and hydrate – has a new star product; the Triple-Action Line Smoother to target lines. Its key ingredient is Hydroxyproline, a plant-derived amino acid to help delay the appearance of wrinkles by protecting the fibres of the dermis and stimulating the contraction of collagen fibres, protecting elastin molecules, and defending the skin against free radical damage. It is stocked in selected Farmers, pharmacies, department stores and health stores for $49.90.
Flase lashes you brush on…
If three coats of mascara just aren’t going to cut it for you, then you need to turn to something stronger, with a lot more impact. Falsies. That aren’t falsies.
MODELCO has released Fibrelash Brush on False Lashes that act like fake lashes but are a liquid formulation that you brush on to your own lashes. First you paint on the Extension Mascara and then the MODELCO Lash Fibers adhere to your lashes, acting like lash extensions. Then you paint on another coat and it secures the fibres in place. The more you apply, the more dramatic the result. It retails for $54.95 from selected pharmacies and department stores.
