It might not happen overnight…

…but then maybe it will!

We look at some new beauty releases that are designed to work while you are catching forty winks.

Sukin Moisture Restoring Night Cream $22.50

This is a light cream with evening primrose and rosehip oils. I have been using this for at least a fortnight now and find it very mild; not overly rich, and perfectly suited to those looking for an everyday night cream at a great price. In fact you don’t feel shy about slathering it on your neck and decolletage at this price. See www.sukinorganics.com.au for info.

Weleda Wild Rose Smoothing Night Cream $39.90

Weleda is another reasonably-priced range for those seeking a natural and paraben-free alternative in their skincare. With cold-pressed wild rose seed oil and evening primrose oil, the Wild Rose range is aimed at women over 30; the stage our skin begins to lose its ability to retain moisture and regenerate. The Wild Rose collection is a great first-ageing range for minimal ageing signs. I especially like the metal tubes which keep product safe from air deteriorating it. For stockist info see www.weleda.co.nz.

Smashbox Lash Revival $58.00

A magic wand? No, it’s not Harry Potter. The trend for longer and thicker lashes is not abating, with various treatments and products around. Smashbox have a mascara wand and fine brush duo, Lash Revival, that promises longer, lusher lashes in as little as 8 weeks with this treatment and conditioning wand. They quote independent consumer studies that showed that 90% of subjects noticed an overall improvement in the appearance of lash length, fullness and thickness in just 8 weeks. This advanced formula contains SymPeptide™, a complex proven to stimulate lashes without irritation while enhancing the look of existing lashes.

Lash Revival is applied to lashes before you go to bed as an overnight treatment, and should not be applied more than once every 24 hours. Apply the treatment using the fine brush across the upper lashline and let dry, then apply conditioner to lashes using the wand. Once it is dry, you may apply your usual eye cream. See www.smashbox.com.

Dermalogica MAP-15 Regenerator $193.00

Part of Dermalogica’s AGE Smart range, MAP-15 Regenerator is a firming and clarifying formula for mature and prematurely aging skin. This powder-to-emulsion formula provides nourishing and anti-aging benefits to the entire complexion. Magnesium ascorbyl phosphate is a stable form of vitamin C, which provides antioxidant protection and encourages collagen formation. It also inhibits melanin formation and collagen deterioration. White tea, yeast and algae extracts brighten the complexion, fight against free radicals and increase collagen production for firmer, hydrated and elastic skin. Glucosamine encourages hyaluronic acid and collagen synthesis while fighting against AGEs, a sugar and protein by-product with damaging effects. Free of artificial colorants and fragrances, it is safe for the entire face, including around the mouth and eyes.

Dermalogica Age Reversal Eye Complex
$149.50

Also in the Age Smart range comes the fantastically- tilted Age Reversal Eye Complex. After all, who doesn’t want to reverse the age of the skin around their eyes? It is the thinnest skin on the human body and thins more rapidly over time with mechanical movements. Apart from sagging facial skin I would definitely say it is my biggest concern. This little tube got 100% satisfaction ratings from their trialists. It targets concerns of the eye area that one would expect – namely, crow’s feet, puffiness, dark circles due to hyperpigmentation (Racoon eyes) and wrinkles – but also skin sensitivity due to dehydration. Its key ingredient is Retinol at a strength of 0.1% along with peptides, vitamins and botanicals. This strength of Retinol is enough to reverse UV damage and encourage epidermal cell proliferation whilst not strong enough to be aggressive. Apply it to the eye area overnight after cleansing. For more info see www.dermalogica.co.nz.

And with all this attention on our face, let’s not forget our feet.

Pure Fiji Body Butter in White Gingerlily ($46.00) is a coconut milk-based body butter to instantly revive skin.

Our tester, Jeanette (aged 39) was rapturous about this product and how good it felt. For a feet treat, slather body butter on then cover with socks and leave on overnight, for soft and restored skin. For more info see www.purefiji.com.

So catch forty winks where you can, as we all know you can never get enough beauty sleep.

…and wake up looking gorgeous, Sleeping Beauty.
