On Tuesday the 20th was Baradene College’s Year 12 work experience day and Tatjana and I got the day off school to work in a field of our interest. It was our pleasure to get the opportunity to work for the Thread blog. Our task was to find and photograph street style in Auckland City centre. In doing so, we got to meet a handful of Britomart’s most fashionable individuals.

First, we chatted to Sonya, (coincidentally) an ex-Baradene student who works in Ruby boutique. She was dressed head-to-toe in Ruby’s latest collection, and her style and combination of prints was on point. Her top and skirt were a unique floral print that perfectly complemented her black and white spotted blazer. She then added a pop of colour with a fuchsia lip which was a nice contrast to the overall dark tone of the outfit.

We noticed a trend occurring with the next person we met, Jess who was also wearing an all black outfit and a contrasting bright coral lip. In particular we loved her choice of accessories, including a classic Karen Walker daisy ring and a number of other gorgeous ones, all of which had been gifted to her on her 21st birthday last February. Jess’ boots were Kathryn Wilson, she also wore an ASOS dress, a leather jacket given to her when she was 16 and a woollen scarf that her grandma knitted. We loved Jess’ outfit because it was simple yet classic and she effectively pulled off the all black ensemble.

Thirdly, we met Adriaana as she entered Sass & Bide in Britomart central. Immediately, she caught Tatjana’s eye because of the unique combination of pieces that she most definitely rocked. From her Sass & Bide ‘Wish Upon a Star’ necklace to her Rag & Bone boots, her outfit was without a doubt our favourite of the day. Adriaana wore Rock Steady jeans, a Sass & Bide skirt and t-shirt.

Finally, we photographed Sharon (below) who we found outside MAC cosmetics. Her fully black attire drew us in and like Adriaana she was wearing a skirt over pants. This combination was daring but we loved it. That morning she had purchased her Factorie jumper which she paired with an Urban Outfitters dress and Frye boots.

Overall, it’s clear that once again ankle-boots are the trend for this Winter along with dark tones that contrast a bright lip.
