Christchurch Street Chic

Jessica Tappenden pounds the pavements of Christchurch to photograph what girls are wearing in our latest instalment of Street Chic…

Warming up a cold Christchurch afternoon, small beacons of light shine out across the bitter afternoon streets. Pastels, sorbets, nudes, florals and lace shine out from their glass cases like precious artefacts, tempting us to take a peek inside, and to dream of the warm sunny weather that will release the gorgeous spring clothes from their cages.

But alas! The gap between winter dressing and the arrival of spring fashion is a tricky time, when one wants to ditch the leggings in favour of a pair of high-waisted floral shorts, chunky nude platforms and a buttoned up white shirt. I guess it gives us time to pop those covetable Spring pieces on lay-by in anticipation of the weather to come!

Blazers have proven yet again to be a great transeasonal piece, as well as military boots, which can easily be contrasted with spring’s floaty and whimsical dresses- very Rachel Bilson.

I hit the streets (and thanks to the weather, the shops!) to see what people were wearing, and what spring clothes they were holding out for.

Samara, Musician.
