My op-shop haul: I wear thrift store fashion

Browsing fashion websites is a lot of fun. But I have two problems with it: everything can be too expensive to afford, and buying too much fast fashion leads to over-consumption which has obvious problems.

At Thread, we believe in careful consumption. This means choosing carefully, buying quality over quantity, and only buying things you are going to actually wear, rather than to fill an emotional gap or because everyone else is doing it. Consulting a style expert or a trusted friend and going through your wardrobe might well be enlightening when you are mindful of your own consumption habits.

With this in mind, I love supporting local New Zealand designers and also buying second-hand.

I wear thrift-store fashion in this charity store (or “op-shop” for those in New Zealand) haul feature, entirely sourced from one trip to Hospice store last Friday morning.

I got a MaxMara black hooded coat, Mossimo lime print singlet, Country Road wool trousers, Ann Taylor trousers, a lilac top, and Armani Exchange white shirt. All for less than a coffee.
