The 10th annual Brackley Beer Festival saw hundreds of locals converge on the town square to catch up with old mates and watch bands play on a truck stage and sell the festival out of beer.

The festival is organised and managed by members of brackley Round Table, a Rotary social group, and proceeds go to charity. One of the beneficiaries will be Round Table Children’s Wish (www.rtcw.org) which brings wishes to children with life-threatening illnesses.

The Brackley Town Hall became a scene out of a Garmen bierfest with 54 wooden barrels of cask ales from 23 brewers, four varieties of Somerset cider, two Czech lagers and wines from Brackley’s newest wine merchant, as well as soft drinks.

Surprisingly for me, it was strongly an all-ages event despite the theme of beer, with dozens of families from babies to grandparents all present at the community event.

The glass is always half full.

Some great outfits at the beer fest
