We wrapped up warmly and headed along to Aotea Square on Thursday June 28th for the launch party for Aotea Square Ice Rink.
A highlight was the special performance from the Imperial Ice Stars who were fresh off the plane to perform in The Nutcracker on Ice next week at the Aotea Centre.
Thanks to a kind and helpful lady from Paradice Ice Skating team, I learned some tips that kept me upright on the night; bend your ankles and your knees and your arms. It seemed to work to shift my whole centre of gravity and I didn’t topple forward and fall over.
Girls from Gather and Hunt perform Nutcracker off Ice.
Kate Hannah and Megan Robinson apres-skate.
Next, we headed up to BOX café & bar on the Aotea Centre terrace for mulled wine, snacks and cupcakes.
The completely fabulous Ruby Frost performed a few numbers from her recently released debut album Volition including appropriately-named single, Water Into Ice.
The best-dressed sweater and woolly boots award winners got Ruby Frost’s CD prizes.
Charming host Josie Campbell from The EDGE says, "It really is worth dressing up warmly – especially if you think you might fall over on the ice!"
So what are you waiting for? Get your skates on!
