Saturday 17 March saw the qualifying held at Albert Park in Melbourne, Australia at the first of this year’s Grand Prix season, and Sunday 18th March the actual race day.
I would have to say that Melbourne is a great track to watch from. It has an excellent set-up for spectators. It’s easy to move around and so we tried a few different vantage points and got different locations for the photography.
It was a sunny 22 degrees for the race dominated by McLaren’s Jenson Button. Second place went to Red Bull’s Sebastian Vettel, and Red Bull’s Mark Webber was fourth.

The race lasted under two hours, but there are other support races and categories of racing, so there’s always something of interest on the track to watch.
These fences are temporary, and stored in Australia and brought out for the annual Grand Prix. Tickets say you are there at your own risk!
In the Pit Lane
A Marshall waved the red flagto stop the qualifying session because a car was stopped in a dangerous place.
Mark Webber waves to fans in the driver parade before the race. Webber, as an Australian, was the local favourite and fans are all standing, taking photos of him.
Formula One cars driving around on the first racing lap – hence them being so close together. Quite quickly the gaps between cars space out as the race develops.
