Easter weekend brought a gorgeously sunny start to Matakana Sundays – a great place to make, do, buy, imbibe and view all located in Matakana Country Park on Omaha Flats Rd, a mere 45 minute drive from central Auckland.

Held every Sunday in April from 9am to 3pm, the park boasts plenty of fun farmyard entertainment for the kids – in the form of petting zoos, adventure playgrounds, sheep racing and horse rides.

For those who prefer a more sedate Sunday, there is food and wine from the Speckled Hen Café or The Stables Restaurant, art exhibitions, live music, workshops and demonstrations.

Set up by Steph Fraser, (above left) who hosts her own stall selling beautiful home blended teas and natural body products, the Bazaar aims to offer craft that Nana would never dream of.

Lily and Rosemary of Make Believe had a very sweet range of items inspired by wanderlust.

The Pretty Buns stall was doing a roaring trade, with Summer demonstrating how to get your hair looking Hollywood perfect in 30 seconds flat.

There is definitely something for everyone at Matakana Country Park, so whether you would like to ride a pony or tie your hair in one, Matakana Sundays will provide you with all you need for an entertaining day out.
