Two iconic New Zealand fashion brands: Kate Sylvester and Mi Piaci, celebrated the release of their exciting new footwear collaboration with a party between their two stores on Ponsonby Road on Thursday 8th September. The collaboration of the brands came together literally and physically with the ‘joint worlds’ event with live sounds tacos made right on the footpath, and a gin and tonic bar in the shoe store.
Pairing the unexpected and effortless, contemporary and classic, iconic New Zealand brands, Kate Sylvester and Mi Piaci have come together to create a sophisticated and uplifting capsule footwear collection. Introducing Ali and Aida, an effortless summer sandal and versatile pump with elevated design details. In a fresh Spring palette of vibrant green, sky blue and soft camel, the footwear fuses together signature brand elements perfect for the warmer months ahead.
The Aida pump features an unexpected cylindrical offset heel and ankle ties that be taken off for a simple pump. The Ali sandal is effortless with a low block heel and subtle straps, designed for the modern woman.
“It was an exciting creative process working with Ellie and the Mi Piaci team on this very special collaboration. The two summer footwear shapes are the perfect complement to our Spring collection ‘Avery’ which is inspired by the artworks of modernist artist Milton Avery” says Kate Sylvester.
As Mi Piaci enters its 20-year birthday season this collaboration was a natural fit, working with two distinct and complementary design aesthetics to forge the ultimate summer shoes.
‘’With our own design team and manufacturing resource, we were able to work closely to construct and amend lasts and design lines, to finely sculpt toe profiles and toplines to achieve the brief. Colours, finishes and leathers were especially produced to ensure the styles represent a combined aesthetic for both brands, and celebrate two crafts coming together in celebration of a new season.’’ Louise Anselmi.
