#FIRSTANDFOREVER is the newest campaign for Dr Martens for 2012, featuring the gloriously gorgeous Agyness Deyn and Model/Musician Ash Symest, who both embody the very essence of the raw Englishness that is so quintessential to Dr Martens.
The boots started being made in 1960, and were worn by policemen, postmen and the working class but they have now become a tribal emblem by successive subcultures, each twisting the boots and shoes to meet their own identity.
FIRST LOVE is a short video featuring Deyn’s character talking about her first love shot in the English seaside.Watch the video here.
There is a connection with the first pair of DMs that we ever own – most of us who had them remember them, and some (like my daughter) have kept the boots as well as the memories.
We enjoyed the video and the luscious shots from the campaign, shot by Gavin Watson. Watson has been capturing British youth culture on film for the last 25 years; his portraits are incredibly raw and gritty. Go to #FIRSTANDFOREVER and you can share your own personal ‘first’ experiences.
You can also view FIRST HEARTBREAK, which is the first in the series of videos as part of this campaign.
Go on, try something new, try something for the first time…

Below: The ‘Monochrome’ Collection ($269 for shoes, $289 for boots.) The monochrome ‘toe-to-tip’ 1460 and 1461 were in fact inspired by a pair of original cherry red Dr. Martens that had been lovingly burnished so often that the polish had worked its way onto the actual sole.
