Limited to not just those who can hold a paintbrush, fashion allows us all to be the artist – as well as the canvas. Wellington artist collective Artery has created leggings that fuse art and fashion…
Fashion is more than just an ‘industry’. Limited to not just those who can hold a paintbrush, fashion allows us all to be the artist – as well as the canvas – for our own self expression. Publicity and hype are essential in fashion but the speed of ever-changing trends can really drain its soul and integrity. This is where Artery presents its point of difference.
Director Zoe Ella has based Artery on a simple yet powerful foundation; bring together a group Wellington artists and turn their individual designs into a collection of quality urban apparel. Designers featured in the current Artery collection include Zoe Ella, James Whitchelo, Henry Osborne, Gwil, Becca O’Shea, LABTAB and MIFARR.
Artery has found a way to remain fashion-forward while focusing on producing wearable art, as opposed to just going along with the gist of trends. Artery is sure to draw in art enthusiasts who value artistic sentiment and individuality over what is simply considered ‘cool and current’ while breaking down the barriers of art for the average consumer. This concept also works in favour of broadening the range of mediums for the artists involved in Artery.
The collection currently consists of seven different designs of full-length leggings for women. The leggings are limited edition with each design is limited to a run of 50 and comes with a numbered certificate of authenticity signed by the artist.
The fusion of art and fashion is taken to the next level with Artery. Stay tuned in 2013 for more designs, as well as a full range of men’s and women’s apparel. Artery is stocked on the website www.arteryapparel.com and ALC apparel.
