After chatting on a chaise at Bacco, we went through to see what a Farmers has in-store. It is of course a huge collection – so we’ve narrowed down our highlights – the pieces worth mentioning, for both young and also the more mature…
All decked out as a vintage home, Bacco in Nelson Street had gone under quite a transformation on a very hot sticky day in early winter. We arrived down the stairs into a completely different space than is usually there; the open room had been divided off into smaller, intimate spaces – and if you didn’t know the building you would have sworn that it was always that way. A very good set up for the Farmers Autumn Winter 2011 show day.
After chatting on a chaise with a cooling drink, we went through to see what a Farmers has in-store for us this year. It is of course a huge collection – so we’ve narrowed down our highlights – the pieces worth mentioning, for both young and also the more mature.
The first thing that caught our eye was of course the bed laid out with all the Collette Dinnigan lingerie; a strong, but simple range, and we loved the Confetti Range starting at $39 – especially the chemise at $119.
For the young and fabulous, the Switch Foxes Top at $29 took our fancy. The geometric print is perfect – and is just the thing while it is still so warm, and as it gets cooler slip a jacket over it. That also goes for the Switch Soft Stripes Top $29 which I saw elegantly worn at the Urbis Design Day Launch recently – a feminine pink/black stripe worn with black pants and high black court shoes.
Of course a major element for this winter is a splash of animal print. It seems to never really go away, but of course the key is not to wear too much of it at once. Definitely never worn head to toe! The Ignite Platinum Faux Fur Hooded Coat $159 is about as much as you would want to wear at one time – and if that is too much – consider a pair of ballet slippers or an umbrella in it.
Prints with an ethnic flavour figured strongly with the Ignite Platinum Chiffon Tunic at $39 doing the trick nicely.
Jackets are still featuring with these two both already in store – the Switch Vintage Floral $89.99 (pictured above as intro image) – perfect to throw over a dress or jeans now while the weather is still not too freezing cold, and the Ella J Black Label Ponti jacket $89.99 that is a longer variation on the one they carried last season.
We also got to have a look at the newly launched Liz Mitchell collection with a great price point – a Liz Mitchell Printed Tunic at $99 is a great example.
For those of you looking for dresses, you will be spoilt for choice this season. Our favourites were the military-inspired Switch Military Shirt at $24 which could easily be a dress with leggings, and also the Switch Chambray Dress at $49.99.
All in all, plenty to choose from and a little bit for everyone…
