I like a girl who can pull off a simple design that has edge to it and mix it up with accessories, shoes and bags.
I also like something that you don’t see in every different colour walking down the street.
As such, I find it hard to come across clothes that really stand out to me and are worth the price I am paying. So I tend to do a lot of research on where I can find different designs and garments within New Zealand. Below are some of my favourites to have a look at online or maybe have a peek instore.
Georgia Alice
I am falling in love with Georgia Alice. Although her clothing (pictured above) looks casual, it is unique and wearable. It is the type of wardrobe you can wear as work attire or day wear. Just put some high heels on and accessories and you’re sorted. With the stunning and simplistic take on the classic, this range includes shirts, singlets, pants, coats, skirts and dresses. Georgia Alice brings an authentic take on modern and feminine dressing.
Lucilla Gray
I have just recently stumbled across this 22 year old designer. She is amazing. Her designs (pictured above) are stunning with florals and digital textile prints that offer a high level of sophistication. I haven’t seen something like this for a while. It will be exciting to see what she does with her range. Whilst she doesn’t yet have a boutique, Lucilla Gray is a line you should look out for.
Lana Boutique
I walked into this boutique a month ago and was stunned by the different garments they stocked – clothes that you can’t find on every other woman around Auckland. Lana Boutique is in Takapuna and caters for the sophisticated and stylish-yet-slightly-edgy woman. They stock high end international brands such as Maurie & Eve, Bee & Bridge, Zulu & Zephry and Senso. If you are after a corporate outfit that has edge then this is definitely the place to shop.
Flo & Frankie
Flo & Frankie is between the upmarket and the affordable, with clothes for your everyday, as well as great workwear outfits. Their clothes are full of print and colour. I love their style of dresses, their blazers, and the matchy-matchy skirt and tops. You are bound to walk out with something in this store. They’re at 242 Broadway in Newmarket.
Minty Meets Munt
These guys are starting to become more familiar around Auckland, and in particular on the North Shore as their store is at 62 Hurstmere Road, Takapuna (as well as Ward Street in Hamilton). Two weeks ago I was drawn into their store to come out with an amazing long pencil skirt which I wear for work, and for evening with high heels. The Minty Meets Munt style is colourful with a range of prints and it’s certain there will be something you will be captured by. Their garments are a must-have in my wardrobe.
203H Boutique
Located on K’Rd this shop is amazing. Started up by New Zealand fashion designer Hannah-Lee Jade, who styles for music videos, fashion shoots and commercials, there are some inspiring collections to be found here in 203H Boutique in La Gonda Arcade at 203 Karangahape Road. They stock clothing that comes from the artistic and emerging designers including Alexander Balfour, 1977, MP, 6×4, Cuda Sisters, and KingdomOf, alongside her own collection of clothing. This boutique definitely fits in with the K Road edgy, artistic scene. See their site here for info.
