Bubble and Squeak has connotations of a mixture of tasty bits and pieces, and it is never the same twice.
The popular leftovers fry-up has that in common with the Kiwi mum’s online children’s boutique of the same name, as it offers affordable, limited edition fashion.
Thread likes that it is very limited in quantity; only 50 in each size. So you won’t get confused picking up your kids from kindy and being faced with a dozen wearing the same, mass-produced clothing.
We like the low prices too, with garments around $30 for original designs. We also like that delivery is only $7.00 per order for parcels sent within NZ and $18 internationally.
My husband said, "Lily is looking very high-fashion!" when she was wearing this asymetric collar grey sweatshirt, pictured below. And get this – it is only $30. You can’t get much for that these days, particularly designer children’s wear.
Owner Dee Crawford says, "When I became a mum to twin daughters, I couldn’t find interesting, fun everyday clothes for the girls that weren’t expensive or on everyone else’s child. And the sea of pink and purple in clothing stores was overwhelming."
Dee wanted clothing that was fun, a bit funky and different, that expressed her daughters’ ‘big little personalities’. It also needed to tick the boxes of comfort, easy care and affordability.
Dee found a "fantastic designer" and manufacturer to work with and from there Bubble and Squeak was born.
Below: Lily wears the red longsleeved top and Plaid pants with cross-over front detail. They have side pockets, an elastic waist and are lined. ($32.00)
Taking a break; modeling is tiring work.
Looking pensive in the round-necked long-sleeved stretch tee with puff sleeves, which retails at just $15.00.
