We had a sneak peek at the SS10 ranges of Country Road and its grown-up sister, Trenery today at the Westin hotel in Auckland.
The collections feature urban metallics, Indonesian ikat prints, skinny cargos and True Blue indigos in store for this summer from the Australian fashion house.
Pictured left is the campaign shot for summer featuring the khaki colour story.
Ikat prints, popular for the past two seasons in interior furnishings, have made it through to fashion with a burst of colourful ethnic flavour that livens up the khaki range.
Scarves are key, seen in chiffon ikat print and fringed and bobble-edged cottons with bohemian flavour adding a world traveller look.
Perfect to accessorise with these ethnic/boho or khaki looks are gladiator sandals. YES you saw them only two seasons ago and YES they are back – or still here? If you got them on sale, you are an astute shopper as they are huge this summer. Some are flat, some have a slight heel, all have a back zip closure. Gorgeous.
True Blue baby I love you… Sixteen expat Aussies have been photographed modelling the True Blue collection, including Oscar Humphries, Lincoln Pilcher, Pippa Holt and Gabrielle Hackworthy. The campaign won’t be plastered across billboards and buses, rather, it will be made into a poster and mailed to their database and also feature on a microsite online. The collection includes skinny jeans (AUS$99) and sky blue sleeveless tops with prints of clouds.
Country Road menswear also gives a nod to Indonesia with its batik-y prints coming through in the summer men’s range, seen below in shirts and shorts in blue cotton prints. The edged-lapel jacket on the right is the hero piece for the season, and was worn by Oscar Humphries in the True Blue shoot.
After receiving feedback from customers that the leg was a bit too boxy, the trouser leg is now cut to be more slimline for a narrower silhouette. Even the cargo pant is narrow.
Thread liked the men’s chambray shirt, dip dyed in indigo dye. We think girls will be buying these for the Alexa Chung- Chloe look.
The urban metallic range of Country Road has shots of coral amongst the silver and the bronze sequins. We saw shimmery fabrics in little bomber jackets and a gorgeous Jackie Onassis lurex tweed jacket you could dress down with jeans.
In Trenery we especially liked the sleeveless shift dress with pleating at the waist- great for disguising a tummy- and a maxi cotton knit dress with horizontal stripes and cut more a-line than its little sister narrow cut maxi in the Country Road range.
