Dyrberg Kern, the upmarket jewellery label from Denmark, has gathered adoring customers from Europe to New Zealand. Thread went along to their store in Wellington and took a look at their new range.

The new season collection, created by Danish designers, has recently launched in New Zealand stores.

It includes themes of opulent oval allure ‘Byzantium’, ‘Winter Gold’,’ ‘Con Amore’, ‘Tartan’ and a special Monogram Collection celebrating Dyrberg Kern’s 25 years of creativity.

The new season collection runs parallel with the exact season in Europe so New Zealanders are right on trend. Customers travelling to Europe will notice that pieces have purchased here in New Zealand are also current season in Italy and France.

Heart, coin and oval shapes feature throughout the range, with luxe and exotic names such as Cupzia, Giovanna and Bluemoon. We liked many but a favourite has to be the ‘pipaul’ belt that can also be worn as a necklace.

Evident at first glance is the use of gorgeous colour through the range. Owner of Dyrberg Kern NZ, Juliet Sullivan, says “There is a lot of colour in the current collection including regal, rich purples. I’m amazed how much colour Wellingtonians wear – especially purple" she says.

Dyrberg Kern has a stylish range for men too which is exclusive to the Wellington store. They’ve noticed men in suits visiting the Wellington store to purchase accessories such as cuffs, cufflinks and watches. Dyrberg Kern Styling Merchandiser Sandra says “men are combining plaited leather cuffs and watches to create a contemporary, sexy look. In the male range there is the use of semi precious gemstones such as tiger eye and black crystal in a gun metal finish. Pieces in the men’s range use Italian calf leather and stainless steel."

Wellington has the only stand alone boutique store of Dyrberg Kern in New Zealand, however the label is available throughout NZ in stores such as Quinns in Christchurch, and Smith and Caughey’s in Auckland.
