Here are our highlights from URBIS Designday ‘Journey of Connections’ on Saturday 23 March 2013; where a strong theme was the linking of personality to product, in interactive displays.

This was especially apparent in the MINI + Switch installation where we chose which model car most suited our personality, and at Geyser + Design Assembly where we walked through a decision-making journey to lead us to our ‘type’ (a nice pun on typography and personality type.)

Elsewhere, at Bo Concept we could use our personality and taste to style a live model using the products on offer, which were designer clothes and accessories.

Another fashionable exhibit was Yvonne Bennetti’s at Spazio Casa; she had digital prints of marble and wood veneers on her clothing, on models around the Italian showroom. Great hospitality of food and wine, too throughout the day, especially the raisin-infused shochu drink from Fukoko bar inside the Backhouse Interiors + Gather & Hunt exhibit.

The installations that stood out as strongest to me were the interactive exhibits that had us think, move, and make choices while interacting with the products. That’s what great design is all about.

Here are our highlights in pictures…
