New Zealand handbag brand Konev has teamed with Wellington fashion stylist Samantha Hannah in a colab creating a winter 2010 limited edition collection of bags.

Inspired by Versailles gardens and entitled In The Pond, all are made from materials with a natural and environmentally sustainable focus.

Samantha’s unique and stylish designs are crafted by Konev from soft, high-quality leather and lined with her signature red.

The handbags and wallets are accented with fabulous splashes of vibrantly coloured fish skin which were rediscovered in the factory storeroom.

This sophisticated collection has a strong sense of design and aesthetic to suit most body shapes and sit comfortably in the most flattering part of a woman’s waistline. Practical features like the hidden cell phone and coin pockets and the base-mounted feet make it the perfect accessory for the discerning modern women.

In the Pond is a collection inspired by the beauty of the gardens of Versailles. Evolving with the château, Versailles represents one of the finest examples of French garden planning to date.

“The Versailles gardens elegant beauty effuses timelessness and sustainability. The Parisian architect who designed it had remarkable vision and style. I wanted to draw on this in this collection” says Samantha Hannah.

Samantha Hannah is passionate about combining sustainability with beautiful, practical designs. She believes that the right bag can accentuate personal style and individualise any outfit.

“I kept the handbags simple and elegant so they would be timeless. I would love the bags to be handed down for generations to come – they will certainly last. I’m really excited they have all been crafted in New Zealand,” she says, “as this adds an environmental platform to the In the Pond brand story.”

Since 2006, Konev has been focusing on refreshing their designs, especially in the fashion arena. Their own in-house design team has collaborated with New Zealand designers and design graduates allowing truly original design to emerge in fresh Konev Collections.
