Ruth Garden’s long time goal to open her own boutique was realized with the opening of Yellow Brick Road in Parnell stocked with pretty dresses, quirky jewellery, inspiring books and her own range of fine jewellery, Inkling & Notions…
Looking for a one stop shop for everything a girl wants? Then you have to visit the Yellow Brick Road at 279 Parnell Road.
The boutique is located behind Casa Del Gelato, opposite Jane Yeh Bridal in Auckland’s Parnell and is well stocked with pretty dresses, quirky jewellery, inspiring books and cute home fixtures.
Thread attended the launch party on 16th October as guests enjoyed sweet treats and champagne to celebrate the realization of Ruth Garden’s long time goal to open her own boutique. Along with the delightful spread, there was a cute photo booth set up with flower garland head dresses available and a gorgeous photographer on standby.

Ruth, the former Store Manager of Kingan Jones in Newmarket and Ponsonby, had spent a good few years cataloguing suppliers and building networks. Most of the items stocked in the store are sourced from Mexico, England, America and Australia but also available is Ruth Garden’s very own range of clothing and jewellery called Pony Puppy which is exclusive to The Yellow Brick Road.
On the evening of the launch Ruth also celebrated the unveiling and launch of her range of fine jewellery, Inkling & Notions. This quirky range of fine accessories is the collaboration between Ruth and her friend Harley Carnegie. Ruth creates the designs while Harley crafts the jewellery here in New Zealand.
The spacious store is charmingly decorated with white and mint green walls. “I love mint green walls because it reminds me of an ice cream parlour and the white background creates the prefect canvas for the clothing items”. Ruth explains that in addition to emptying out her house of her lovely furniture, she went on a mad Trademe and op-shopping spree to create the dainty, vintage atmosphere you encounter at the boutique.

I absolutely love the vast collection of china found scattered around the store.
So if you’re in need of a pretty party dress or a birthday gift for a friend, or a cheer me up, stop by at The Yellow Brick Road Boutique. It will make you happy just to walk into the store, to discover all the beauties available.
