The hot Game of Thrones actor Jason Momoa, who plays warrior Khal Drogo, is currently in New Zealand for the Armageddon Expo.

This morning he had an hour-long powhiri in his honour. He loved it and loves New Zealand – and he also loves rugby. Momoa wore a New Zealand All Blacks rugby shirt at Piha Beach in Auckland today, for a segment on TV show ‘Seven Sharp’ this evening.

The only reason he came back to NZ is he loves the place, says Paul Blomfield who’s hosting the actor for Armageddon Expo. Jason Momoa will be attending the Hamilton Armageddon Expo on 25th – 26th May and Wellington on 1st – 3rd June 2013.

In Game of Thrones, he plays Dothraki warlord Khal Drogo. He’s also played Ronan Dex on Stargate Atlantis, Conan in Conan the Barbarian, and Keegan in Bullet to the Head. He visited Auckland for Armageddon Expo in 2009.

Today’s powhiri was not the first Maori culture he has seen; Jason Momoa actually performed a Haka for his audition for Game of Thrones. You can view it on Youtube here and pictured below.

The reaction by female fans is massive. His visit is sure to change the typical demographic attending the Expo. Here’s a sampling of comments on local social media today:

"Imagine being the makeup girl who had to oil Momoa up every scene #bestjobever" @Kiwimrsmac

"Sudden flood of ladies attend, breaking all previous attendance records. Actor mobbed, drowns in undies." @Kiwimrsmac

"????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

"Mmmm I might have to go to Armageddon this year."

"Oh. My. God. Is that Khal Drogo?!"

"Ooh er."
